Envoy should sue ALPA...
No joke. Could you imagine any other industry where the union undercuts ITSELF to award work to another group of people under its own umbrella? Talk about a solid case for mis-representation. ALPA did not represent Eagle's best interests when they negotiated the PSA contract. I bet it could be argued they knew this would be the end result.

They'd certainly have a case.
I wonder if a regional-only union would improve things. There might still be the potential for undercutting, but it stands to reason that it would be less likely without the influence of the majors. |

The "potential for undercutting" would be less likely if Hulas and JO couldn't staff their undercutting operations, and the recent concessions at Brownstreak weren't voted in to begin with... |
Thank you for your contribution to the thread; unfortunately it's not the topic of discussion.

Not that it's right... but this same scenario has already played out under all the other legacy carrier umbrellas with their respective regionals. Envoy is unfortunately coming to the same party everyone else has been at for years. Sadly, the awful precedence has already been set, which would render a lawsuit futile.

The bar for DFR is very, very high. Folks often confuse ALPA National with ALPA *Local*...Locals like EGL and PSA, where individual pilots within that Local both negotiate their own CBAs (with assistance from National) and ratify or reject those CBAs. EGL pilots *knew* contraction and even shutdown was a possibility when they rejected their TA. Having the hindsight of what happened to Comair, they rolled the dice and took their chances. It sucks, but one cannot logically blame ALPA National for this without first and primarily casting "blame" where it truly belongs - the Local level. |
