By the nature of how this industry functions, no regional should be considered completely safe or stable. I would suggest considering a regional that has a base close to where you live.

I personally (vehemently) disagree with this, as I think you should make the decision on where to work based on the totality of the information available. If that means moving or commuting, so be it.

That said, many pilots target an airline based on the convenience of the bases. That's a personal choice. But don't let it be the over-riding variable that sways your decision.

As for Envoy, you need to take the company at their word when they say that the airplanes will all be sold.

No, I wish I was. People hired in late 2011 are still on reserve.

I'd recommend not commuting. Take the best job for your resume. That might require moving. It also might include evaluating who will have the quickest upgrade possibility several years after you get hired.

500/1000 hrs TPIC was a requirement in the past and appears to be of significant value now. That might change as the supply changes but there will be a lot of guys with TPIC on their resume that you'll be competing against.

Run away from Envoy, JB.
Far, far away......and do NOT stop until you have passed Republic.

Agreed. Run far from Envoy. And any other wholly owned airline of AA.

I’ve been looking quite a bit at Envoy for my first airline job if I can get on with them but the new cuts and airplanes sent to PSA makes me nervous. Any insights? Is this a temporary and passing hardship because of difficult contract negotiations or is Envoy going to join the myriad of other regional airlines that have been cut in favor of someone cheaper?

In light of recent news, your dreams if going to Envoy is probably a really bad idea. Unless of course you are looking to get your first furlough out of the way, I'd probably start considering other airlines. Just a thought.

If I was to start in 121 today and could live anywhere, this would be my list:

1. Compass
2. PSA
3. Mesa
4. TSA

Get in, get out....

Agreed. Best thing you can do at the regionals is to spent as little time there as possible.
