Doug Parker State of the Airline-Envoy

Sam is here speaking:

Sam: Envoy has more pilots right now even as we are transfering aircraft to other carriers who cannot staff them (and with the experience of envoy pilots). Also on a conference call there was talk about parked regional hauls.

Doug defers to Isom

Isom: Thank you for your effort to attract pilots. There is no better place to be than envoy. The story is getting out there.

Kenji: Envoy is getting 40 175s. Need to balance aircraft arrival, attrition and recruitment. Aircraft that are being parked are 140s because they are older. The parked aircraft are NOT "new" aircraft.

[Thanks for speaking Sam!]

snippercr 07-26-2015 11:06 AM

You should include the part about Mesa

shfo 07-26-2015 11:07 AM

Best part was the woman from sales telling parker that tsa and mesa are god awful.

TalkTurkey 07-26-2015 11:15 AM

Can someone post a link to the call transcript?

TSA isn't great but it doesn't help that they are filling up a 145 in LGA. I guess they conveniently forgot that Eny didn't put their 145s there. Also, TSA doesn't get the luxury of having AA do the W/B so showing up 3 minutes from departure time asking if we had our closeout doesn't work. No. We don't. Do you have a bag sheet?

But yes, other than that, TSA can't seem to figure out how to do MX on an airplane they already have.

We know. Trust us. We are happy you are getting at least one of the "TSA Ten" as we like to call them. Enjoy your "Extreme" landings.

Oh wait, we get them back after 20-24 months?

Which is funny because TSA mx chief said the planes you gave us last time and this time had pages of discrepancies when they inspected them once they arrived. Lots of finger pointing on both sides.

Relax guys... I've jumpseated on both TSA and ENY's 145s and they are both incredibly beat to absolute heII. That's like saying your turd stinks worse than mine.

I just got odd looks in the crew room for laughing out loud to that.

Agreed. At least those 175s will still smell nice.

You have no idea what you're talking about. When Tsa got them from you years ago they were already POSs my favorite one was the one with the neutral position of the yoke was like near your balls instead of where it usually is. They were truly POS.

Senior Skipper 07-26-2015 01:22 PM

You guys are really arguing over whose 15? year old airplanes are worse?

PSASUX 07-26-2015 01:44 PM

Yeah. Envoy is the place to be. And if you believe that I have some stock in Enron I will sell you.

Might have been elementary school actually. It was definitely before you were in diapers though.

How would someone from Sales have any exposure to Mesa or TSA?

She had been on 4 Mesa flights in the last 30 days that were either cancelled or more than 3 hours late.

And yet the passengers keep forking over their money. If they go to United, it's the exact same thing. The sad thing is, no one really cares about performance.

Out of DFW? Try catching a ride out of Dulles, Houston, or Phoenix. The Dallas problems are well documented.

It is silly that Envoy is one of the few regionals able to staff yet it's losing airframes to other regionals. Go figure.

Not really funny. Envoy is too expensive in the eyes of management, and the "flow" combined with the shrinkage is just getting the older and more expensive guys to leave. Once the senior guys are gone, it will be time to bring more flying back to Envoy and reduce it from another carrier.

It is all about the money and the cost of doing business. They would rather move the flying around even though there are some current struggles in order to save a lot of money.

deltajuliet 07-26-2015 05:44 PM

Of course, it's the whipsaw at work and it sucks.

buddies8 07-26-2015 05:53 PM

They don't save any money. It is called placating to Wall Street dip shi +s.

Just rewatched and you are right. He said Envoy, paused and said, very quickly, "or PSA or Piedmont." My mistake

Not trying to spin anything and sorry for the omission.

Do you have a minuet marker form the recording. I missed this part when I listened the first time.

Um, because they are??? Not that the others are much better, if at all.

And your source of information is what exactly? Crew room gossip and internet chat forums?

ScottyDo 07-26-2015 09:34 PM

Yea if you guys want to use real information from accurate sources then here is the scoop. For the month of June Envoy had a CF of 94.98%, Mesa had 94.67 and TSA had a 94.25% completion factor. As far as "on time percentage" Envoy was on time 73.90%, Mesa 69.68%, and TSA was on time 60.29%.

So speaking for the Mesa vs Envoy debate looks like the Envoy guys really have nothing to boast about with only a CF of 0.31% better and a on time percentage of only 4.22% better.

So explain to me how TSA and Mesa are just "god awful" and Envoy is the shimmering beacon of light in performance again?

If not a "minuet", would a waltz be okay?

sublime259 07-27-2015 03:21 AM

Well from a strictly personal experience, I was scheduled to DH on TSA one day out of LGA and literally every single outbound flight that TSA had that day was cancelled. The departure board tends to show TSA cancellations rather frequently as well. As for Mesa, anytime I fly through DFW I witness the carnage of an endless string of angry passengers first-hand.

So no, my opinion isn't from crew room gossip. The performance that I've witnessed for AAG has been horrendous.

Airline Performance Reports

It would be nice to see Dallas specifically. Your numbers are the whole operation, which probably buffers the Dallas numbers. I'd like to know if the improvements are starting to help.

Airline Performance Reports

Hahaha, this is awesome how we are arguing about "my regional isn't quite as horrible as your regional is."

The sad part is that a certain major airline is willing to let performance suffer in order to perpetuate the whipsaw by taking planes away from a certain regional and giving the planes to worse performing regionals.

Quality doesn't matter as long as it's CHEAP.

The source of information is the CEO and the Senior VP for regional carriers. On the Questions and Answers portion another AAG employee complained about Mesa, once again. The CEO and senior VP said that they are aware of Mesas problems and outlined how they are trying to fix it, its not an Internet forum thing. It's the second time that Parker hears a complain about Mesa from an AAG employee, last time it was a 767 pilot who "asked" him about Mesa.

Most TSA canceled flights in LGA are flow control related and not maintenance or any other. Considering that 96% completion rate, no just adjusted and most flying is in and out of LGA, I'd say that your perception is confirmation bias.
