It's already been extended once (and increased from 20k to 23k), considering the probability that finding pilots is going to get harder between now and 2018, I'd bet on it being extended again. Or better yet, rolled into the hourly rates.

Pay is only one part of the equation, and bonuses are only temporary. Let's look at what coming to envoy on the E175 (since that seems to be what everyone wants) will get you as a brand new FO in terms of schedule. Schedules have a huge impact on QOL. This data was taken from the June bid packet.

Most junior line holder is a little over 5 years
Average line credit is 75:11
Average block time is 72:38
Average amount of deadheading (credits only 50%) is 5:06
Average days off is 14

All of this can be had after 5+ years of reserve hell.

As long as we get AAG's flight file scraps, I doubt there will be much improvement. RAH, XJT, Mesa, etc. get first choice at what flying they want and the WO get what's left, which leaves very little mid day flying. Put those into a line and you get mostly 4 day trips, long sits, and lost weekends.

When everybody's special, nobody will be.

Typical underwhelming action by corporate.

Umm.. no new hires have finished the 175 training program yet. All current 175 FOs are senior FO shinny jet chasers. Of course, reserve time will be high. Within 6 months, the 175 will have the lowest newhire to line holder time of all the fleets.

.

Of course that is what happens when everyone senior initially bids a new airplane. Now they are upgrading off it and leaving their seat open. Plus we aren't 5 years ago going through bankruptcy with zero hiring, furloughs, losing half of our fleet, losing all our bases, and over 1,000 pilots quitting and leaving. Those people didn't spend 5 years that whole time on reserve as FO's anyway. Some more senior people might have gone back on reserve "temporarily" until more planes show up and more lines are built. None of the new hires will spend anywhere near 5 years on Reserve, it will be just months based off the numbers. Also Look at the junior line holder FOs in other statuses. Are they on RSV for 5 years? No.

"Jan '16 hire is bottom line holder in ORD on the E145. There are 241 active FO's and June has 189 hard lines.

Aug '15 hire is bottom line holder in ORD on the CRJ. There are 163 active FO's and June has 113 hard lines. "

Bonus makes 1st year pay work out to about $42.67/hr based off 75 hour minimum monthly RSV guarantee.

Did people say that when Endeavor offered their bonuses?

How much is the 2nd year pay cut once the bonus vaporizes ?

Perhaps it would also be useful to calculate a pilots earnings over 4 years as an F/O (the conservative estimate to captain at Envoy) at Envoy based on 75 hours and compare the 4 year figure with other regionals ?
