Buddy of mine is a little short on the 500 XC for ATP. Wants to apply here.

Will they offer him an interview if he is short on hours giving him time to check all the hour requirements?

I was when I interviewed. I had 7 (seven) hours of multi time and was 30ish hours short of the total time requirement. As long as it's something he can get in the near future then I'd still apply.

For me it was if you're within 1 year of reaching ATP mins.

Actually, he only needs 200 xc for ATP (will be restricted until 500)...

Interesting to see how difficult dfw will be to get for a new hire over the next couple of months. I'm 39 and would have considered the 145 for a faster upgrade....now I'll be shooting for the 175 just to get dfw.
How long do you think it will take for the Miami dust to settle?
Is 39 old enough to feel confident with getting a 175 slot?

We're being told the dust should start to settle in January. But you have to take that with a big grain of salt. 39 you'd have a shot at the 175, assuming they continue to hire into it. The FO side is pretty well staffed and we're getting the 40th plane this month and won't get another hull until November so there's no telling how the hiring into it will continue to look. 175 will be your best bet though if you can snag it. Your equipment as an FO has zero effect on your upgrade time. Just because you're a 175 FO doesn't mean you can't upgrade into other equipment.

I'm interviewing in September, and I've got 1000 121 already. I know there are a lot of variables but is it likely that I'll actually upgrade within a year? I saw the other thread about the 3 month upgrade but was that a fluke or are y'all really struggling to find CAs?

Also I live in Louisiana so I'm really hoping for DFW, but I know I won't get it for a while so is any one here familiar with how tough it is to commute to MIA out of MSY? Thanks in advance.
