Liege, Belgium (EBGL)
Any tips or info for a EBGL layover? I think we are staying at the Park Inn, near the airport. I'm looking for watering holes and eateries either within walking distance, or a short cab ride, but any other oddities of interest are also good.
Thank you in advance, your help is much appreciated.

About how many Euros for the cab ride into town?

well it actually is a pretty good layover despite one opinion here, crime....if your company wears bomber jackets, and if your whole crew wear them in to town, then you could be targeted.
It happens to be the french speaking side of Belgium. if you speak french, then you have it made. downtown near the river close to the the train station, there are 100's of bars and restaurants, lots of good beer,(Juplier) and hot women. have fun, ride from EBLG, to town, ? good luck, far away.
The Park used to be nice, about a year ago they had a huge fire in the place, nearly burned it down.

Liege isn't the best, but I'm from around here. Never been mugged or robbed, but guess it could happen. They don't speak good english, but head to the center then in back of the opera and you'll find 4 streets with just bars and lots of resto's... enjoy

I usually walk up to the bus station in the village nearby(Grace-Hollogne), bus #53 takes you to the St Lambert square(20 min ride), heart of town in which you can find a lot of cafes and such other places(Belgian beer!).
St Lambert square is also a central municipal bus station, from which you can take bus #1 or #4 to the central train station(Liege-Gullemins). From there on trains leave to Brussels, Brugge, Lux, Cologne etc...
Sucks that no one speaks(nor wishes or even tries)English.

Liege is far from the crime capital of Europe. I've never had a problem there, though muggings and robberies do occur. Stay sober and stay awake and use common sense. No problem.
If you find Liege to be a dangerous place, you haven't travelled much.
