My guess is that United putting money into XJT and offering a shortcut to an interview with United will increase people wanting to work for XJT. Their classes are already growing. As far as parking the 145, I’d be more worried if I flew for someone like Skywest than XJT. As the 50 seaters age out and go away, United will most likely concentrate flying in the regionals that exclusively feed United. The 145’s are paid for and renting someone else’s makes less sense. A company like Skywest will most likely continue to fly the 175, but will lose the 50 seat flying as it goes away. And yes, United will continue to take pilots from XJT and others as well. You act like XJT is some kind of poison pill. They are just another regional like Skywest or Republic, and United is just another legacy. There is no gold standard in this business.

Anybody at TSA who was around 10 years ago would be THRILLED to see GoJet tank...and yes, plenty of CommutAir guys are smugly pleased with taking XJT 145s.

They refer to OO as Skypest. Do you see where I’m going with this? You don’t see Republic or Skywest jumping over joy for what is happening to Compass do you? How about CommutAir they aren’t celebrating about getting XJET 145’s are they?

There are approximately 1380 pilots at XJT. I seriously doubt your observations accurately represent the opinions of the majority. Pilots are people. Sometimes people don’t think about the consequences before they wish for an outcome. No pilot I know wants any other pilot from any other company (with the exception of Skypest) to suffer any loss or concession in their careers. There are zero celebrations. Because of Expressjet’s history with all of the serious ups and downs, I feel it is perhaps the most humble group of them all. For the first time, in a very long time, some things are changing in a positive way for those that have been at XJT the longest. It’s only human nature to be somewhat excited about that.

Hey, I’m not arguing that these threads exist. If there are 20 different threads from 20 different confirmed XJT pilots, that still doesn’t make up the majority of the 1380 at the company. If you want to label an entire group based on your APC interactions, well just imagine if folks labeled your pilot group based on your opinions and contributions to the forum. |
Training time has dropped back to a quick 90 days or so from hire date to being on reserve. Glad to see the ERJ pipeline chugging along at full speed for new hires.
Not a lot of Houston awards for new hires, but the few I've spoken to who got EWR and wanted IAH were able to trade it while still in training. Have they installed the third ERJ sim at the training center yet? |
