Those “uninformed” put food on our tables. We wear a uniform for them. And perhaps as tradition. I swear we pick the dumbest things to complain about...

I’ll admit it makes me wonder as a regional guy do I look un-professional when standing next to a mainline guy wearing his hat?

I'd worry about the rest of the attire. Pants that are too short and wearing earbuds listening to music walking through the airport. The hat is the least of the worries.

We wear a uniform because Juan Trippe thought a naval uniform would be appropriate for his flying boats.

These same "tradition" folks wear the hat without an overcoat etc. If you want to wear things out of tradition, at least know the tradition. And do it right.

Nothing more ridiculous than a pilot walking through the terminal with no blazer, short sleeve shirt, and wearing the hat. And thinking he looks professional.

Perhaps, but that was the exact "warm weather" required uniform where I worked.

You still have to adhere to company regs.
