175 Bait and Switch

December 18, 2018: “The transaction also includes certain protections around existing SkyWest Airlines flying, as well as priority position to add 25 new dual-cabin aircraft with United should those opportunities arise.”

The opportunity has ARISEN! Who in their right mind would’ve thought UA would pull the ol’ switch-a-roo and subsequently transfer the 25 XJT 175s back to OO to fulfill this agreement?

This is just another slap in XJTs face. All of the E175 pilots, instructors and training department got a raw deal on this one. There’s no sugar coating it.

Don’t forget there are 19 options on the table. Also republic and sky west are having trouble staffing with additional flying. Mesa is having trouble staffing their airline too. Can you imagine Delta or American asking these airlines to fly more of their feed for higher dollars? I think this will blow over and is just a temporary Band-Aid to fix trans states problem. I don’t think Expressjet went through all that trouble for nothing. Let’s see how this all plays out when our new contract information becomes known to us.

Also now that that contractual 25 dual cabin clause has been fulfilled what will be the next move if any more aircraft come on line

Where is the data to back up your claim that SkyWest is having trouble with staffing?

Those 19 are just options. Reserved space on the production line the UA has paid a deposit to hold. They aren’t aircraft orders. UA can sell the option do another carrier, or give them back to Embraer. The factor that determines if those aircraft get built for UA is mainline scope.

If they do get built I can tell you where they won’t be going. That path was made very clear on Monday.

Those are going to SkyWest too. Replacements for the 19 700’s in DEN that do some of the Aspen flying. That’s “if” they can be certified for it.

175 can’t do Aspen. If they could they would have been flying it already.

Your user name and picture are a perfect cautionary tale for young people.

That’s a possibility, my point was they aren’t coming here.

However the 175 isn’t aspen certified. I can see UA taking that route mainline and putting the mini-bus on it.
