Next time management asks for "help" and tells you that concessions are necessary to save the airline don't forget that. |
Do ASA folks who retired before losing DAL benefits, still have them, or did Mama-D take them from everyone including past retirees?

How do pass privileges typically work for people who retire from a regional? If a regional was flying for X at the time of your retirement, and now doesn’t, would that person still get passes on X? People retiring from a legacy typically retain retirement pass privileges since their company owns all of the flying and are not subject to depending on others for a route. How does that work at the regionals when they don’t actually own much, but are contracted out by a parent company to simply perform work for the duration of a contract? Not trying to stir the pot with the whole major/minor league debate. I’m actually curious how a company would provide a retirement benefit such as pass travel when another company actually owns the routes and decides who operates what.

IMPORTANT and URGENT update to my note on pass travel from 8 days ago. It will impact active employees and many of the 2,500+ registered retirees – so please forward to any retiree in your rolodex as we don’t have accurate contact information for all of them. United has notified us that they will cease all pass travel benefits for ExpressJet employees and retirees who are not “grandfathered” into retiree benefits at the time of the 2002 Continental Express spin off. Unless you hear otherwise, employees and retirees who do not fall under the Continental or Continental Express retiree category should plan for their United Pass Travel benefits to stop at any time starting tomorrow October 09, 2020. While we have requested United to extend this deadline, there is no certainty that this will happen. Therefore, please urgently adjust your plans accordingly. (We will separately evaluate the impact on cobus travel.) Were you “grandfathered” into retiree benefits at the time of the 2002 Continental Express Spin off?Employees and retirees of Continental and Continental Express at the time that Continental Express was a wholly owned subsidiary of Continental (circa 2002), and who were eligible for retirement, based on age and years of service as of January 11, 2011, or earlier, are grandfathered into the retiree travel policies of United as per the agreement established at that time. Information about these employees and retirees is based on their records in Continental’s legacy “Compass” HR System. Subodh |

A lot of mis-information in that article. XJT had roots that went back to 1964.
Also glad that FO Crane knows where the nickname SureJet came from. 🙄 |
