i agree, however my understanding is that UALPA would never let the new company get that workforce for “cheaper” and when you have a company that has a very top heavy workforce it becomes a problem... now that asset becomes a burden and they elected to dissolve and also that rumor with breeze died out supposedly due to this...

When it comes to flying that is contracted out, UALPA only defines and enforces scope. They have no say in who does what, that is 100% United’s decision.

I think you misunderstood me, UA decided to close down ExpressJet, the reason for that can be debated to eternity. Reality is they did, according to rumors, Breeze showed some interest in taking over the certificate, however UALPA or ALPA wanted to force Breeze to take the pilots at ExpressJet even at current seniority and pay. And therefor the deal didn't happen.

Someone will pick up some of the planes, pilots, employees without their certificate. It will happen. May be 5 years from now. Likely will be piecemeal.

I did misunderstand you then.

XJT needed to die.... to many jack asses running it.

SkyJunk left the “right” folks in charge to do exactly what they wanted of them. Just sucks for a lot of folks. Wish all well.

I am not with Breeze, so I can't speak for them.

ExpressJet would have continued with the "top heavy" payscale. We even offered to take on United pilots that got laid off if we had space to take them on if UA would have let us fly under their code independently. The airline would have flown 175s and 190s as it transitioned out of 145s. The payscale on the 175 was fine. It would have given the new ExpressJet a shot without compromising anyone's quality of life. It would have lifted the CLE Concourse D completely off of UA. ALPA was informed and they had no issue with the plan. United never responded. United would have even gotten some money for the certificate.

There is a difference between the viability of an airline as a feeder and the viability as a standalone operation. Neither are easy, but the economics as a standalone are more favorable if you can create the right network. A point to point operation with a focus at CLE would have done reasonably well.

The Onion: “United breathes life in to competitor “
“This week United announced they will turn one of their regional airlines into a direct competitor. When asked for a statement United stated, “We have always been and will always be CLE-Friendly” and then proceeded to hum Rhapsody in Blue into the microphone for 15 minutes.”

LOL. That's not quite how it works. It would have been more like AA and Midway in RDU in the past if I had my way.

First off, I wish everyone that was part of this pilot group all but the best.

Out of curiosity, how has everyone been holding up, more specifically what have you all been doing with your time, and have you found new work?

It’s been very quiet since the shutdown, hopefully that means you’ve all moved on, but I know that’s not realistic.

God bless
