Default Question for Expressjet pilots

I've got a question for any Express pilots that fly the routes to Mexico. I will be going down there pretty soon and am looking at getting back to IAH from MMTY (Monterrey) on XJET. I have Continental non-rev benefits through CHQ but I'm just wondering how the process works as far as jumpseating/non-reving across the border. Any info is appreciated, thanks in advance.

You can not jumpseat internationally.... Do you have access to COair? But anyways list yourself on the flight when you go to the airport all you have to do is pay the tax on your ticket. Most likley 45 bucks.

You can jumpseat internationally, just not in the flight deck. Small but important difference. He shouldn't have to pay the non-rev fee.

ok I gotcha. I do have access to coair and I looked it up on there and it's 30 bucks which isn't too bad. How are the gate agents and security people like that down there?

sign up for the jumpseat, though as mentioned you can not sit in the jumpseat. Take an open seat in the back. You will still have to pay the departure tax, but by jumpseating you will save on the pass travel. Security is not bad and the gate agents are nice.

Wear your uniform.

so next question, do I need to buy a deal off of coair before I head down or can I just show up at the airport like I do in the states and go through security and talk to the gate agent or ticket agent or whatever.

Edited, oops, somebody already covered it.

Exactly, but he'll still get stuck with the departure tax.

Helps if you have the cash on hand to pay it.

You don't need to buy anything. I would say to just go to the gate and ask for a jumpseat form. If you want you can go to the ticket counter and ask them if you need to sign up there or at the gate. It really isn't much different then the states. Just save some money back for the departure tax.

One thing I'll add from my experience non-revving to Mexico is make sure you have cash on hand when you get to the airport. Most likely they will not accept credit cards, only US dollars or pesos. Just been my experience. Most airports have an ATM in them you can get pesos out if you get caught with your pants down, subject to conversion and fees from your bank.

The agents and security down there are usually pretty relaxed, especially if you arrive early and make an attempt to overcome the language barrier. If you wear your uniform you will definitely get more respect and more than a few smiles from the senoritas
