I haven't heard anything specific about new hire classes or interviewing. From what I understand there is a fairly large pool waiting on class dates. The question mark is how many of those in the pool are still swimming and how many have started classes elsewhere. As of now we are fat on FOs and fairly lean on CAs. A small upgrade class was just awarded (16 or 32 I think? Too lazy to look it up right now). CAL has been trimming the block hours as of late which is what led to the hiring/upgrading hiatus but attrition has, for the most part, been steady. Assuming that block hours pick up during the summer (which historically they do) then I would expect to see a large upgrade class by the middle/end of summer and some new hire classes this spring/early summer.

Maybe this is better suited for the crackpipe but I gotta ask...what is up in manpower planning? I was under the impression that captain coverage was pretty lean but the upgrade classes have been smaller than I would have expected, especially heading into the summer. And now they are pushing back new hire classes 2 months? Are they just trying to work through some of the excess FO numbers or what? I can't help but feel like someone knows something they aren't telling us. I guess we're all just mushrooms, right?
