I thought this was old news.
Congrats XJTr’s, I'm truly happy for all of you. |
what about AE - any thoughts?

Congrats guys...I'm glad to see CAL didn't strongarm you all into letting Skywest gobble up yet another company's flying/planes/people.
I know some stand-up guys from Skyway who came to Pinnacle after Skywest got their flyilng, and I'm glad to know that you guys won't have to go through the same thing. |

My point is other than our (SKW) At-Risk flying in LAX, SFO, PDX and SLC; 95% of our flying either belongs to UAL, DAL or Midwest. It's not ours just like 9E's flying is not theirs, most of XJT's flying belongs to CAL/DAL, RAH's belongs to UAL/DAL/CAL/US/F9. Skyway's flying was Midwest's and if we didn't win the bid then someone else would have. It was Midwest’s choice and no one else’s, period. Once again, we do not live in a perfect world nor do we, at the regional level, own our flying. This is our industries harsh reality but it should come as no surprise. |
At least this should avoid the ASA/Xjt Whipsaw that would ensue..

Look, I understand your opinion, but I believe it's narrow-minded to think that any flying belongs to anyone but mainline. We live and work in a world of code shares that expire and go out for bid again and again. In a perfect world we all would be able to retain our current flying levels with even distribution of growth. In a perfect world we would all be under one nationwide union with nationwide equipment rates and work rules. Actually in a perfect world there would be no need for unions at all. In a perfect world fuel and energy would be in an abundant supply with little to impact on our environment, starvation wouldn’t exists, no one would lie, no adultery, no murder, no crime……………………………………….. Need I go on?

While I generally disagree with Jet... he is spot on on this one. Its not OUR flying....it mainlines to distribute or award as THEY see fit.

Okay, my fellow CHQers. I guess it's time to let tpersuit in on why we're okay with stealing his flying.
You see, tper, we're trying to take food away from you and your families. If you starve and die, it's less competition for us later down the line. Why, you may ask, did we choose XJT instead of SKW, ASA, or any of the myriad other regionals? Simple: that's where the dart landed. Apparently you guys thought it was a good idea, because you seem to be doing something similar to another DCI carrier out west... |
