Sully dead-sticked an Airbus with a dual engine failure into the Hudson without loss of life. Expressjet skidded off a runway. I don't think the FAA would extend the same courtesy to this crew. Glad everyone made it out ok.
Just for argument's sake, if both crews did everything else right, why the discrimination?

Agreed...BUT(theres always a but) pilots lost alot of faith in the FAA when they went after Bob Hoover's ticket. Surely they learned lessons there and wouldn't try the same with Sully since he's going to be the fifth head on Mt. Rushmore and a national hero. Looking at it from a political point of view...Sully vs. Two 145 regional goons...the FAA wouldn't be above throwin the book at these two guys who more than likely did everything right. Just sayin.

I'm not discriminating, just my opinion of what would most likely happen. I wish it wasn't this way, but Sully was made into a national hero. Running off the runway just doesn't have the sex appeal of gliding into the Hudson River. I hope these guys did everything right and everything works out well.

Couple of things here guys...

1) Good discussion on ASAP here BUT... why is everyone already jumping on the "pilot error" band wagon? The ERJ has a poorly designed nosewheel steering system to begin with and a track record of issues with the system. Without further information, my money would be on there being a malfunction with the steering over two pilots just veering off the runway.

2) Why why WHY did it have to be one of the aquafresh birds!?!?:D
I can see it now...
Press: Um, Uninental, care to comment on the incident involving one of your flights in Akron, OH today?
Uninental: Oh no, that wasn't us. See? Says ExpressJet in BIG letters right there on the side. We had NO involvement in that mess.

And in posting your off base "opinion" of them "running off the runway" you showed how ignorant you are on the topic. There is a very good reason why most operators of the EMB 145 have an uncontrolled swerving on the ground memory item. Let the professionals figure out what happened before you throw your peers under the bus.
