Toche sir....couldn't agree more. I meant if they go to the 70s/90s operated by another regional. If they can't be at mainline, id rather fly 3 a day than 5+.

[QUOTE=Jimmy Hoffa;1101204]i work for XJET, even if some of these rumors were true and certain aspects were costing the company too much...WHO CARES. I WANT TO GET PAID AND I WANT VACATION AND I WANT LOTS OF DAYS OFF. my priority is not to help managment figure out the minimum amount to bid for a CPA. the whole damn regional system is broken. whose sort of industry has a business model as a subcontractor to barely break even? thats assinine.

If every regional pilot had my mentality of get as much money as you can, it would force your management to quote higher CPA's prices.
or better yet, if we had a universal pay scale/ work rules it would set an even starting bar in terms of labor costs, then the most EFFICIENT company would survive and actually force management to come up with other ways to save money rather than pay cuts.

FUPM! and you pinnacolaba fools better not vote yes on paycuts![/QUO\
************************************************** **************
If the regionals EVER bid contracts the way you wanted?? They'd just give the Jet flying Back to the Major Pilots and put the regionals back in their places. Since ths Entire section of the Industry is ripoff of One pilot Gtoup for Another. And, that ALPA has already seen it's short-sightedness in allowing Regional Jet code shares in the first place.. But! since that Genie is already OUT of the bottle They're NOT going to do anything to propagate the fire from spreading durther, All the regionalas have to be ready to go it on their OWN and so maybe NO you Won't be getting a fat contract with UAL because Jeff has to watch His OWN back with HIS pilots and the entire feeder conundrum might now be running it's final course where feeders will be flying under their OWN colors again rather than the bait and switch that's happening now. Then the Best managed. and Best operators would flow to the Top and some of these "schlck" operators would fall be the wayside. Especially the "Fast Buck" Regional Managers.. Of course there would be FAR fewer Pilots as well, but Maybe?? There Should be??

Unfortunately, I think you'll see the new United start doing the same thing with XJT over the next year.
CR7/9 DTW-MTY is well over a thousand, there are also some IAH trips pushing that number too.

We're getting close to the end of the year, so let's compare apples to oranges. I invite anyone who is not on first year FO pay to participate.

Im a 5 year FO at XJT, in 2011 I worked just over 700 hours and made 51K, and the company contributed 6K to my 401K. My hourly rate is 40, but our work rules make it the equivalent of 70+. Now do you understand? Its all about work rules. The company could give me a 30/hour raise with a crappy contract and it's still a concession! Don't focus all your energy on the hourly rate, that's exactly what they want you to do.

I've been thinking about this post a lot lately and I just recently figured out how to find your contract. Wouldn't you have to make over 100k for the company to match 6k in your retirement?

If I'm wrong, someone please school me.

I agree.. the way I see it is

5% x 51k is $2,550 max...

but I have been wrong before... once.

At the 5th year of service assuming he made 51K, the company would match the initial 5% to contribute $2550, then an additional 4% to add in $2040 according to the Defined Contribution Plan. This would be a company contribution of 9% for a total of $4590 with the pilot contributing a minimum of $2550. I still didn't get to 6k, but 4600 is still impressive.

oh you get both.. that's cool.

Why is there a less than 5 year level at 2.5% if you have to be at the company at least 5 years to qualify?

More than 5 years to be vested, but all pilots qualify.

yrs 1-5 the company matches 4% and then you get a defined contribution of 2.5% that you get regardless of what you put in for a Total of 6%

yrs 6-10 they match 5% and you get 4% from the defined contribution for a Total of 9%

You are only vested after 5 yrs. If you leave the company prior to 5 yrs you only get a % of the total contribution from the company. An example of this is if you leave after 4 yrs but before 5 total years you get 60% of the company's contribution.

I think the guy who quoted what the company contributed is off by about double but he could be looking at the graph on the troweprice website and ballparking + including the market gain on his investments. As a 5th yr fo the company matched $850 every quarter give or take a little.

The important part is to always contribute enough to get the full company match. A newhire at XJT on the Embrear side of the world only has to contribute 4% and the company will give him 6.5%.
