Deep breathes. Negotiating tactics. INC isn't going to just Comair the entire airline. There are plenty of profitable pieces at ExpressJet. I'd be willing to guess a bankruptcy filing would be in order before they just dissolve their billion-dollar investment. In fact, I'm surprised they haven't done that yet. Perfect excuse to force the pilots into a JCBA, shed loss-making CPA's and other financial burdens, force Delta and United back to the negotiating table to secure new CPA's that actually make sense.
The only reason I can think of that is holding them back is that it would tank INC's credit rating and they might have trouble financing all those shiny new large RJ's on order. How many are there again? 400+ including options? I seriously doubt SkyWest Airlines alone could staff all that even if they parked the entire existing fleet. Yea, we're not going anywhere. |

Pretty much.. We are the next Comair. Doesn't matter if we are publicly traded or not. That is not a safety net, and yes we can be shut down if we are not making money. We are not the government. All I can tell you is have your apps out and try to get out.:(

I like the way you think, it is a positive outlook. However, i'm not so optimistic. I hope what I said does not come true.

You kind of suck at trolling. I hope you're just trolling.
But I'm not totally convinced it will be for the best. The second two you listed I'm just having fun. :-) |
You ExpressJet guys sure seem to be emboldened by the votes at Eagle and Republic. Let me bring you back down to reality a bit. Eagle and Republic are both profitable, ExpressJet is not (cue all the conspiracy theories about fuzzy math and intentionally trying to tank ExpressJet). Have you met United? They are the most greedy airline out there, all about the bottom dollar. They aren't about to renegotiate contracts that benefit ExpressJet and not them. They want the 50 seaters gone, they don't want to pay more for them. It's all a pipe dream for you lifers over at ExpressJet because you have nowhere else to go or you would have got out already...SkyWest isn't going to keep this around for much longer. Hell, as you guys retire planes OO is pulling them out of the desert and putting them into service and making money with them. Got two sitting in TUS right now awaiting incoming inspections, more on the way.
Is ExpressJet just going to completely disappear in the near term? No. But they will be downsized to trim the losses as new aircraft come online with the 175 at SkyWest and Mesa and eventually just be completely shut down. SkyWest gains nothing by continuing to run two separate operations (cue the whipsaw theorists). |

We just were not going to help them line their pockets as they do it. As far as "lifers" go, there has been almost no hiring by the majors for 10 years! Only certain groups got hired. We also know that SKYW can't simply bankrupt us as we are their subsidiary. We are over 4,000 pilots and it will take a while for all those 175's to replace that feed. Let's see how the summer goes, when cancellations mount for lack of crews. Every labor group here is ****ed off, not one of them is doing anything beyond bare minimum, because management isn't either. |
