Regional Airline #2 Eagle or ExpressJet (ASA)

Can only get turned back once? I like that - means you will be able to go home at some point (assuming you get a turn day one and they don;t "turn you back" for a 4 day).
No more having to call to get released. Many times there is nothing in open time and you call to get released only to hear "Let me put you on hold for a second...................... yeah we have a turn for you." Block in, phone ready - HI3, HI6 - done go home.
However, once PBS kicks in, I wonder how reserve will change. Obviously they are going to need a lot less reserves and it's been conjectured that reserve might actually go senior.
As for why our reserve is actually pretty good - you have SOME level of control and predictability with it. I understand those words are kinda the opposite of what reserve is - but you can proffer for trips which is nice and RAPS have some predictability if you are going to get called or not I would definitely say that our reserve rules are some of the better ones. To prevent being called a kool-aid drinker, I will refrain from calling them the best.

Well I like Eagle... And they are hiring as many as they can. Classes every two weeks. In 2011 they hired over 700 when only planning on 600. This time they are saying 625 and they have only hired around 30. Seems like a good time to get on at the beginning of a hiring wave. Both are decent companies, but Eagle has pilots leaving for AA very soon. Upward movement is what this industry is all about.

I'm curious. Since you list "being owned by Skywest Inc." and "Flying the CRJ" as pros to ExpressJet why aren't you looking at going to Skywest? Is that because of domiciles?

If you're commuting from DFW-IAH or from either to ORD. I think you'll find the commute is much harder than you think.... Hub to hub with mainline bases = a lot of mainline pilots commuting.

Oversold, many listing for the actual jumpseat, one cloud in the sky, and woe be upon you if anything cancels. I came really close to having to do a DFW-ORD commute for a little bit but thankfully avoided that. I kept my eye on the flights daily to see how the commute would look, always people listed for jumpseats and standby lists would get pretty long. And if there is weather and anything cancels, I saw the standby list over 100 people long! Mind you this was only AA flights and ORD-DFW is one of the heaviest there but still. Not to scare you but that was just what I noticed.
