ExpressJet opening bases in IAD, MCI, & DEN
Per company communication, all ERJ bases opening 08/30/2013.
|
DEN: 80 crews (80 captains, 80 first officers, and 90 flight attendants)
IAD: 70 crews (70 captains, 70 first officers, and 65 flight attendants) MCI: 80 crews (80 captains, 80 first officers, and 80 flight attendants) |
IAD and DEN make sense. But why MCI??

To save money on overnights. Period. Second, Southwest is getting 12 additional gates at EWR as part of the UAL/CAL merger deal. With that in mind, and the jets Legacy XJT didn't get, the EWR XJT base will be nothing but a memory. Southwest will be at all the gates XJT has at termial A. Can you guys say, "Ding Fares?" Anyone................

If any of you Xjet guys & gals could do the kind favor of reporting on how senior (or junior) DEN goes when you see domiciles awarded... I would appreciate that intel greatly.

You are wrong. Southwest is gettign the gates. Period. It has nothing to do with slots.

I'm guessing the all go junior.
|
LOL! SWA. 12 Additional gates. HAHA! That's alot of growth there. How many flts is there going to be? I know we had 80+ in TPA with only 10 so where they going to get that many slots in ewr.. Flame meet bait..

Hey, moar alpha, this is more of a question then a reply to your post, where are all these pilots coming from to staff the new bases. Are they current pilots already at expressjet or is there going to be alot of hiring? Just wondering!

My personal assumption is that CLE will continue to be junior, MCI and IAD seem like they will be also. DEN looks like it will be pretty senior from the start along with IAH and ORD. EWR probably end up in the lower middle of the pack, but these are just my assumptions.
Even though IAH was senior, 2 from the first new hire class got assigned there along with 7 to ORD, so you never know what the all powerful crew planners have in store. |
Perhaps to say money on overnights. An additional benefit is having reserves in place at locations where schedules used to fall apart due to the company's inability to reassign people once they were out of IAH/EWR/CLE. Now they have reserves and or crew trackers to modify schedules once things fall apart.

I live in DEN and am thinking about trying to get on with ExpressJet in hopes of the new DEN domicile.
I really would love to make the jump to XJet if I could hold DEN, but not interested in commuting. I really would appreciate any input or guesses as to how junior or senior DEN will be, and if there is any chance a new hire could hold it? Thanks |
It seems that most here think it will be very senior and you wouldn't be able to hold it out of training.
That said, MCI would probably be an easy commute. The good news is that if you're a 1900 CA in DEN any FO position you take at other regionals won't involve a pay cut. ;) |

Incorrect. First year pay cut, second year pay raise.
