ExpressJet opening bases in IAD, MCI, & DEN

Per company communication, all ERJ bases opening 08/30/2013.

MoarAlpha 05-15-2013 11:24 AM

DEN: 80 crews (80 captains, 80 first officers, and 90 flight attendants)
IAD: 70 crews (70 captains, 70 first officers, and 65 flight attendants)
MCI: 80 crews (80 captains, 80 first officers, and 80 flight attendants)

N927EV 05-15-2013 11:24 AM

IAD and DEN make sense. But why MCI??

MX base there already I think. Kinda like our CAE.

flyboyblueeyes 05-15-2013 11:27 AM

My guess is mci for mx purposes.

amcnd 05-15-2013 11:38 AM

What is down sizing? IAH/EWR?

I think it's ORD and IAH to make some more room for those E175s

To make room for the announced 30 E175s that are going to somebody other than XJT

Except we never pulled the trigger on a CAE domicile.

Probably Trip7's guess. Just the constant shuffling of regional pieces all over the mainline domicile board to "optimize" equipment and capacity.

To save money on overnights. Period. Second, Southwest is getting 12 additional gates at EWR as part of the UAL/CAL merger deal. With that in mind, and the jets Legacy XJT didn't get, the EWR XJT base will be nothing but a memory. Southwest will be at all the gates XJT has at termial A. Can you guys say, "Ding Fares?" Anyone................

12 additional? I'm not buying that.

M20EPilot 05-15-2013 03:06 PM

If any of you Xjet guys & gals could do the kind favor of reporting on how senior (or junior) DEN goes when you see domiciles awarded... I would appreciate that intel greatly.

Swa is slot restricted to 24 flights a day. SWA and Jetblue are ****ed because the security lines for their pod in terminal A are ridiculously long. If you have multiple 737's and a320's boarding within an hour of each other the security line is down past the food court. Shoehorning swa, westjet, jetblue, air canada, and jazz all in the same pod is a cluster that United is quite happy with. IAH might be reduced in the future but ewr needs the shorter routes that republic doesn't want with the Q. 50 seaters will be in ewr in some form for a long time to come. Keep trolling.

MR JT8D 05-15-2013 03:30 PM

You are wrong. Southwest is gettign the gates. Period. It has nothing to do with slots.

MR JT8D 05-15-2013 03:31 PM

Trolling? Gather the facts.

No need to wait..... DEN is going to go very senior. A lot of old ONT LAX and West Coast guys have been waiting a long time for DEN.

Nevets 05-15-2013 03:49 PM

I'm guessing the all go junior.

supersix-4 05-15-2013 06:17 PM

LOL! SWA. 12 Additional gates. HAHA! That's alot of growth there. How many flts is there going to be? I know we had 80+ in TPA with only 10 so where they going to get that many slots in ewr.. Flame meet bait..

How about you post some sources to back up your "facts" then?

You mean the terminal that was l United?

New Guy 007 05-16-2013 06:37 AM

Hey, moar alpha, this is more of a question then a reply to your post, where are all these pilots coming from to staff the new bases. Are they current pilots already at expressjet or is there going to be alot of hiring? Just wondering!

Forum trolls never have 'facts', they just want us to believe they have the personal cell numbers to all the airline CEO's.

727flteng 05-16-2013 06:44 AM

My personal assumption is that CLE will continue to be junior, MCI and IAD seem like they will be also. DEN looks like it will be pretty senior from the start along with IAH and ORD. EWR probably end up in the lower middle of the pack, but these are just my assumptions.

Even though IAH was senior, 2 from the first new hire class got assigned there along with 7 to ORD, so you never know what the all powerful crew planners have in store.

Softpayman 05-16-2013 06:57 AM

Perhaps to say money on overnights. An additional benefit is having reserves in place at locations where schedules used to fall apart due to the company's inability to reassign people once they were out of IAH/EWR/CLE. Now they have reserves and or crew trackers to modify schedules once things fall apart.

Looks like mostly draw downs in other bases. Continued ERJ hiring through the end of the year though

Aero1900 05-19-2013 09:17 PM

I live in DEN and am thinking about trying to get on with ExpressJet in hopes of the new DEN domicile.

I really would love to make the jump to XJet if I could hold DEN, but not interested in commuting. I really would appreciate any input or guesses as to how junior or senior DEN will be, and if there is any chance a new hire could hold it? Thanks

TallFlyer 05-20-2013 03:40 AM

It seems that most here think it will be very senior and you wouldn't be able to hold it out of training.

That said, MCI would probably be an easy commute.

The good news is that if you're a 1900 CA in DEN any FO position you take at other regionals won't involve a pay cut. ;)

Incorrect. First year pay cut, second year pay raise.

I hear ya. That said, I'd be very interested to see what a Junior XJT FO credits every month compared to a GLA guy, and then how many days each has to work to accomplish that.
