You will need them beginning August of this year. Prior to that, you only needed a commercial certificate and a second class medical to be a First Officer.
Thanks. It was my mistake, the people I was specifically referencing were interviewing for positions other then FO |

Thanks. Hopefully all those upgraded FO's will want to be hired away once they get some PIC turbine later this year and ASA can upgrade some more FOs

Take your class based on bases. Assuming we get a joint contract it will be the same. CRJ pay is slightly more right now, but your splitting hairs with pay concerns it's so small between erj/crj. Take the class for other reasons. Remember seniority is everything get in your class now! Good luck! Where do you want to live btw
1. MUCH better and more affordable health Insurance 2. 4% match plus 2% defined contribution, with your 4% thats 10% 3. Better work rules all around, especially considering ASA has none for reserve. 4. Multiple bases instead of 2. 5. Better vacation and trip productivity. |

Well why the hourly rate is pretty much the same there is much more to consider:

I would definitely recommend new hires go for an erj base because of the things listed above. The only downside to all of that is, God only knows how many of those things will actually be in effect with our new JCBA. I would like to see all but we all know that it won't be a possibility if we have to be more "cost competitive."

ERJ base? They're getting ready to park massive amount of 145's. How many 50 seat jets is United scoping out? How many total does XJT and Republic have?
I'd be trying to get to Skywest or Republic. If you can't that's a different story. |
[QUOTE=dvhighdrive88;1413234]Let's do some rumor control on the forum, the very concept of which is a classic oxymoron.
So here's whats floating around: -Expressjet recently wanted 48 pilots for a class. They found 13. One of which had a few "driving" related issues (RBTL) and the other whom was well, rather long in the tooth to put it kindly. I've been constantly updating my airlineapps info with no responses. Emailed/called HR, etc. Clean record and meet the mins. |

So in essence the rumors are BS. Not surprising really.
At least at UAL from the hiring gods directly, there are thousands lined up. When the app window opened they got 6000 apps in first 2 weeks. I know of several people with 5 or 6 recs and family on property who can't get an interview. Hiring is bizarre calculus none of us will ever understand. One thing I've learned about flying and rumors: bet on its usually too good to be true and reality is much more stark and less warm and fuzzy than the wishful thinking pilots create. Quite a few blow hards a few years ago going on about how would never work at various majors and how they suck and the how great their left seat regional job is...now calling for rec letters. Truth is its been really damn hard to make it to a regional, even harder to upgrade and hardest yet to make it to a major in a timely manner. Hope that changes soon for all you bubbas, but for now it's still a tough row to hoe. Wouldn't wish what I've had to do on anyone. |
