What bases are these immediate upgrades going to?

New hires usually hold DAY, then TYS, the CLT. I don't know how CVG is going to go, but I've heard it will actually go senior on the CA side.

Until the next 9/11 or recession. It is a gamble that is currently paying off.

Is your plan B going around multiple aviation forums offering career advice such as "you need a plan B?"

Yes, you got me. But in my defense, this thread solicited advice. By the way, it's always better to have a plan b, don't you think?

The whole industry is a gamble, Navets. It always was and always will be. Hell, the life is a gamble! Following your logic we should all go to XJT because it's the place to be when the world implodes. How did the "superior" contract help the 350 that got furloughed during the last recession? And is the contract really that superior? Isn't it actually the centerpiece of the train wreck also know as "Surejet"?

The center piece of sure jet is Skywest management. The superior contract helps those who are stuck at the airline while the next 9/11 or recession happens. Do what you want. All I'm saying is that it's a gamble that is currently paying off.

Telling someone to have a Plan B in this industry is never stupid advice.

In fact, anybody who doesn't will likely one day wish they did. Ask Pan Am, TWA, Eastern, Braniff or any pilot who got furloughed after 9-11.
