Sorry, it was sarcasm. I know there's no sarcasm font here, butI thought I laid it on pretty thick. I think you guys have a great union. It was a jab at some of my coworkers who think you must "vote down the first offer no matter what" and if you don't you're weak.
.

Sorry, didn’t catch that. My bad 😬.

You can go f*%$ yourself. You have no idea who I am, or what I think. I hardly post on here anymore and people like you are the reason why. Show me in my post history where you would even get the idea that I'm 100% behind anything, anywhere. I know the next step in this game where someone dares not to indulge in the groupthink here on APC. It's going to include people telling me I don't work here and telling me to type out the third word in the fifth paragraph of the second story on PFC to prove that I'm an actual FedEx pilot. Have fun in your echo chamber. Tool.

You have posted quite a bit lately. Most of it has been critical to those of us who do not agree with the path the MEC is taking. You have even stated that even the IPA couldn't improve their A plan. That is paraphrased and you did walk that back a bit. Now, I suggest you take a deep breath and pop one of those blood pressure pills before you hurt yourself slugger.

I used my recommendation on a young regional Captain who I flew with for his initial IOE, and has since upgraded and become an LCA. I had someone look up his app and was told that not only was he in the zone for consideration but also said his app looked good and was very competitive. A year later and still no invite to interview and he was just hired at UAL.

Now another buddy has been hired at FedEx, with no start date and UAL has now offered him a job and given him a start date.

I left a legacy for FedEx, so I think it’s worth waiting for the FedEx start date, but many people in the industry say to take the first one to offer a class. Seems like a waste of time having a pool now that everyone is ramping up massive hiring. We are going to lose good pilots to other airlines.

I too chose FedEx over a legacy. After going through the dead decade, bankruptcy and merger, I decided the pax game wasn't for me anymore. And what do you know, another downturn happened. It's the same song and dance with the pax carriers. Now, I'm not saying we're immune, but FedEx has shown to be much more stable within that timeframe. United and other legacies are great now, but many people seem to have a short memory.

Just to provide a counter argument, maybe the consistency of pax carriers inconsistency makes for a predicable way to plan. They rise and fall pretty parallel to the status of the economy. In 10-20-50yrs, people will still be traveling on airplanes. Save for the rainy times and they’ll probably pass eventually.

What happens when the next generation package delivery system shows up that can get a box from A-B much cheaper and faster than FedEx can and they start losing their contracts their business is predicated on? How do they recover from that? That’s probably not going to happen in the next 10yrs, but 20 maybe. Doesn’t take a lot of googling to see lots of companies and investors are spending millions trying to crack the code. Billions if you count Amazon in just the last 4 yrs.

You have to set up the ground infrastructure and that takes time. Start up pax airlines happen all the time. So there is no counter argument.

Bingo..... Breeze, Spirit, Jetblue, SWA, etc. Buy some airplanes and 1-2 years later you are producing revenue. Not nearly as infrastructure intensive. Especially a domestic only pax airline. Now try to start an international cargo airline with doorstep to doorstep service. That will be just a wee bit more capital intensive.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. How about leaving UAL for FedEx right now but currently living 30 minutes from a junior UAL base. Not sure if it’s worth leaving if I’m so close to the junior base but I’m worried about United and that it was the wrong choice for me.
