Could anyone help clarify what is happening with the turbine PIC requirement for new hires. I've heard that it's only "preferred " now versus required. But, I also heard that "preferred" actually means "required" unless you have a 767 type rating . I saw Southwest just changed their TPIC to "preferred " . Has anyone been hired at FedEx without 1000 TPIC who does not have a 767 type rating?

Did they give any insight to what is competitive? Looking to transition in a year and anticipate having ~1750 PIC (mil, fighter background). Just want to make sure I set realistic expectations.

Thanks for the insight, Check6. I recognize that these things can change for innumerable reasons but FDX is my number one choice and I want to ensure I am doing everything in my power to be as competitive as possible.

Any idea if there are special Mil quals that might lower the 1000 PIC "preferred" like the mentioned 767 Type might do?
Mil guy, ~1900TT, ~800 Multi-engine turbine PIC, instructor/evaluator, Test Pilot School graduate. Not being a jet guy means about half the test flights I fly now, I'm not the PIC. Transitioning in about a year and also looking to temper expectations.
