Default Divorce and Alimony

Well I didn't follow the rule that is cheaper to keep her.
I'm sure there's someone out there that is paying alimony.
My situation 20 yrs married. She has not worked for 10 yrs.
No kids.
I'm a MD Captain
Anyone with a similar situation, your information would help.

Google 'Things WOMEN need to do getting ready for divorce', then act. Of course that depends on what stage you're in. Once papers get 'served' your options become less.

It varies with States of course, then particulars of local courts and legal representation. While at it, 'lock up' the best legal offices nearby.

I'd get going, like yesterday.

With a good attorney? 20-30% of your salary after giving her a significant portion of your net worth and rights to your pension(s). Maybe less depending on state and circumstances.

It’s gonna hurt either way. Pay up and find a pitbull of an attorney.

If you scroll down on this page, you will find links to general information for all the states regarding alimony as well as other issues involved with divorce. Specific answers can only come from your lawyer. https://www.divorcenet.com/

Best to agree on a reasonable amount than to roll the dice in front of a judge.
