I had about 4000 hours of Part 121 background, but it was all SIC, plus another 1500 or so in business jets. My TPIC hours were all logged working for an aircraft management company under Part 91 and 135. All the company standards, training programs, etc. were in line with Part 135. But, if I had to guess, I'd say 80-90% of my TPIC hours were all logged under Part 91. They didn't ask for a 91/135 time breakdown in the interview or on the application. Additionally, I was invited to interview before I hit 1000 TPIC. I was pretty close, but I didn't officially cross that 1000 hour mark until after I had been hired and was waiting on a class date.

How long ago did you interview? I thought the 1000 TPIC was a hard requirement to interview now...

It’s preferred, not a hard requirement.

I believe it’s been that way for at least a couple years.

Okay, I could’ve worded that better...
Yes, the verbiage on pilotcredentials has been that way for a while. I had not heard of anyone actually getting hired in the last few years without 1000 TPIC though. Rob Fisher not only confirmed this during the open house in May ‘17, but added the fact that the ‘effective’ hiring mins were 1000 TPIC in a 12,500# (or greater) aircraft. That’s why I was curious how long ago gbntpilot had interviewed.

It may state "preferred", but it's required. I am internal and spoke to Rob directly and he told me no interview because I don't have 1000 TPIC.

Concerning the bachelors degree...I’ve heard that if a 4 year degree takes longer than 4.5 years to complete your application won’t even be looked at. Is there any truth to this?

Agree, that is pure rumor. I was nowhere near 4 years for undergrad.

Absolutely false, and I’m proof.

Good to hear, cause it’s taking me waay longer to get my 4 year done. Hopefully by the end of this year it’ll finally be finished though.
Hoping they can understand that putting my wife through a bachelors and then a DNP program debt free was more important than finishing my degree at the time...
