That is if you want to receive the benefits of the FDA basing as listed in the LOA, ex. housing allowance. We have people living outside the 100 mile ring, some by quite a bit. There is nothing to stop you living outside that ring. What does FedEx help you with or how much you are on your own I cannot answer when it comes to things like visas, support in finding housing, etc.

Yes, to get housing allowance you must be within 100 miles and in same country...
As a fda commuter (which I am) you get 10K seed money, any required visas and I believe you get the storage although I don’t use it. You also get the longevity bonus. You can not use tax equalization.
That’s all I can think of from the top of my head.....Sluggo is a great source of info too!
Cheers!

EU Taxes
Now, Im pretty familiar with the IRS rules on the US citizens employed abroad and their tax exclusion. But what about German taxes? Because technically, if FDX pilot is in Germany for that long, he is a resident? Do boys need to pay any tax to the Deutsch Uncle Sam?

You are a German resident and FedEx pays your DE taxes.

Up until the 5 year point, you have the option of participating in your home (U.S.) or host (Germany) tax program. After the 5 year point, Germany requires you participate in their program. That's why FedEx requires you to move back to the U.S. before the 5 year mark, and that's why they needed our agreement via membership vote.
