My favorite rumor, as told dead-seriously to me a couple months ago by a Captain I flew with, was that FX was going to be the launch customer for Boeing's NMA (757 replacement).
The person on our jumpseat said the same exact thing. Coincidence? The 757 has the worst reliability in our system. They purchased them and parked the 727s so they could come out with the green campaign and commercials. I believe it. |

I don’t see it. The wingspan is much larger than an MD11 and almost as big as the B777. Every ramp would have to be reconfigured and redesigned. It could be a MD replacement due to similar payloads. However I think the 767 firm orders and ramp space issue means this rumor is just a rumor. My two cents.
A330F uses the -200 fuselage and barely carries more containerized cube than a 763F. The A330-300P2F, however, holds 20% more containerized cube than a 763F and 10% less than a MD11F. It does have a longer wingspan and less range than the MD, though. There is no current Freighter or P2F for the 330 NEO (which has a wingspan nearly that of the 777), though the -900 fuselage is basically the same as the -300. |
