I wonder if they want to train up the 757 FOs first since 65% of them on the current list are headed to other seats... Then in the 2nd half of the year they'll fill the open 777 and 767 new hire spots.

uberkanon 02-02-2019 03:48 PM

They still hiring into 75 CGN or are FDA's filled up?

CGN full. There were 30 openings for HKG FO and only 14 went. I’m a little surprised they aren’t offering it for new hires

Has FedEx had over 5,000 pilots in the past? Slowly approaching 3,000 at brown.

appDude 02-05-2019 08:46 AM

First time the 'list' has hit 5000.
Probably a few less than that active.
It gets crunched each JUN/JULY.

Looks like MD, Airbus, and 757

123456 02-18-2019 06:49 AM

4-MD
4-Airbus
10-75

ERAUAV8TR 02-19-2019 01:46 PM

What bases are these?

MD too senior in LAX or ANC to go to new hires outright - so MEM.
Airbus only based in MEM - so MEM.
757 based in MEM and CGN so possible one or two CGN but most are - MEM.

All CGN vacancies were filled. Shouldn’t be any new hires headed there this year according to the last system bid.

123456 03-04-2019 08:19 AM

New class today..

5 - MD
3 - Airbus
9 - 75.

c17heavy 03-04-2019 11:05 AM

Surprised only 17 in the class.

They run two classes a month around that number. At that rate it’s around 400 for the year.

c17heavy 03-05-2019 04:51 AM

It’ll be tuff to get to 600 at that rate.

I think that number got skewed at some point. 19-01 Posting said:

"This bid may create unfilled vacancies in some widebody aircraft that will allow new hires to be spread over multiple equipment types. With a need of over 600 incremental pilots over the next 12-18 months, the opportunities to advance in seniority and/or seat position should be readily apparent. Assuming current economic projections, upgrades to the left seat should remain robust over the next five years considering system form expansions and pilot retirements."

Then folks started saying 600 this year. I read that as 600 over the next 18 months, so still normal pace of 400/year as we've done for the last few years.

That math checks out.

Hey quick question. How is seniority determined in class and are they still hand picking the MD fleet?

Last four of your social. 9999 being most senior. MD is hand picked and start one day early with FDAs so senior to everyone that starts on Monday.

c17heavy 03-05-2019 06:28 PM

Yep. Good point.

Nice to see new hires on the 767 in Memphis.

Did we have any in 2018?

Best use the “Search” function. Probably covered in depth elsewhere.

No triples either. Guess they’re all going to the desert next.

Yep...reading sarcasm on the Internet never works. I’ll show myself out.
