I think with the incentive to retire Dec 31 we get gradually overmanned over the course of the year. Last two December’s on reserve I’ve barely worked.

Nope. Just a troll with a creepy obsession with pretending to be a FDX pilot. Has some inside hookup/access that he tries to parlay into validation but it’s a DLR/DFR situation and he refuses to privately offer proof of his status.

Overmanning for contract negotiations.

So they can enact 4.a.2.b during negotions.

I disagree.
I think they are predicting a business expansion with a decreasing supply of pilots and uncertainty over the number of retirees in any given year.

A surprisingly large percentage of pilots could say screw it, I'm done and hit the doors with a full pension...enough to make actually moving the freight problematic.

Has this EVER happened in the history of this place? Ah No. As a company known for being obsessive on metrics they know that will likely never happen and thinking it would is farcical.

Yes, in the leadup to the financial crisis\regulated age change there were anecdotal stories that the company wasn't pleased with the reliance on Draft and was hiring to reduce that reliance.

Whether that's true or not, who knows. Just a crewbus rumor.

What's not a rumor is the various statements to our Instructor corp that many of them were earning more $$ than some of the VPs.
And a shift from hiring nothing but Capt's to FOs.

If they trigger 4a2b again, you just might see that exodus. I believe the circumstances are different now and they need the pilots. We’ve got 20 more 777s and about 50 more 76s on the way. Add the Busses and Md’s around ‘well into the next decade’ as quoted by several people and we actually may need the pilots we’re hiring.
