What was the most recent interview date that made it into this class?

Heads up to all applicants. I have had 2 friends recently interview. Both of them are currently at other legacy carriers. They both put in applications after February of this year. Both of them when asked why FedEx said “I have always wanted FedEx” even though they didn't have an app on file until the pandemic broke out or they hadn’t updated until after pandemic broke out. They then got stern questions in regards to the response, in my opinion rightfully so, since it didn't match reality with the application. They both got the “no thanks”. Both of them felt like the discussion in regards to this was the reason for the “no” because of the reaction it created by the panel interviewers.

Dont come to the interview and lie!!!!!! This is a test of character. If you lie about this what else will you lie about? The biggest thing the interviewer is looking for is honesty in regards to everything. Don't wast a millions of dollars job over trying to bs a pilot on the interview panel.

Two comments:
1. I don't think we really want pilots here who actually need this advice. Interview process 2, dummies zero.
2. You need to find smarter friends ;).

Meaning, we don’t want pilots that lie at the interview? My advice would be to be completely honest on this question. Admit you’ve seen the light...

Better they be honest about needing a job, with a little bit of spin, ‘Always admired FedEx’ rather than a flat out lie that they know is a lie. Are you in agreement?

Yes. They did not intentional lie or try to lie however, when asked how long they had wanted to be at FedEx they stated "for as long as they can remember". Interviewers then asked "well why have you not been updating until earlier this year" and other was asked "well why didn't you put your app into the new system until March of this year". As you can see saying you have always wanted to be at FedEx better match your application submission time frame and updating timestamps.

Numerous friends have been successful also haha. They did not try to lie but just didn't have good answers for this type of question and felt like it was the reason for the "no" because the questioning that ensued after the response. Just trying to help others out.

I'm just responding to your initial post. You used your two "friends" as examples of what not to do and then advised potential candidates not to lie in the interview and put four exclamation points after that advice. Now you're saying "they did not intentional (sic) lie or try to lie ....."

So, they lied by accident or lied because it's instinctual and requires no effort? Uh... both of those aren't helping their case and further supports my point that the interview process worked, resulting in both of these individuals being denied.

If they were unprepared for potential questions and got caught flat-footed, that sucks. But plenty of pilots are showing up prepared to answer any and all questions and are ultimately successful. Again, it's unlikely that those successful candidates need to be told not to lie in the interview.
