Sucked for most, but not all.

Queue the standard Chinese mafia shakedown tactics. Standard playbook.

I predict several Fedex pilots will be arrested in China for breaking some law. Just wait.

From today's union security message:

"Security personnel may detain and/or deport U.S. citizens for sending private electronic messages critical of the Chinese government."

Perhaps this thread needs to disappear.

We received this warning for China long before the current tiff.

Default Old News

As inferred, today's Security Committee mailer is a regurgitation of a 3Jan19 US State Department PRC Travel Advisory; nothing new. MEC Sec Comm, however, can afford to be a bit more proactive with assessment/mitigation to the backroad, circuitous routing to/from the CAN ramp that facilitated the described "shakedown." Given this specific transit, are we truly surprised something like this occurred?

I did not see the warning/quote regarding "critical comments against the PRC" in the DoS message. But if we are concerned such comments via private, electronic means will result in a lower Chinese Social Credit Score and the resultant dispatch to the Xinjiang re-education camps to join the 1 million+ Uyghurs, Kazaks, et. al., then perhaps we should reconsider business with the entity. A fear of posted cogent, factual yet critical comments plays to their narrative. Perhaps if we just stop being critical, China will unilaterally cease all government-supported media disparaging the FDX shipping errors, level the playing field on trade, increase our access to earth metals, yield their South China Sea militarized outposts, honor Japan's valid claims in the East China Sea, bolster Taiwan's longevity, and make Albie's life better in HKG.....

I would be interested to hear if anyone encounters delays/issues during an impending China Visa renewal.

Reduce the guarantee en lieu of furlough from 68 to a min of 54 in our 4 week month. It worked last time although some were hurt a lot more than others. We have changed some more rules to try to spread out the pain but you never know.

It is a Section in the Contract, Section 4.a.2.b

Go to your Company iPad and take a look at Contract 2011 and 2015 in the Reference-Company/HR Tab.

You will be able to see the original language in 2011, and the improved language in Contract 2015. Be sure to read all of 4.a.2.b and 4.a.2.c in Contract 2015. You’ll see the difference between 2011 and 2015.

The company announced their plan to enact 4.a.2.b on New Year’s Eve 2008 as the Great Recession was beginning.

While the intention was a good one by the Union, a leftover from the FPA, the language was weak and the Company exploited it.

It was incredibly hard for those on the B727 and Memphis based A300 guys, anyone who was Junior in a Seat overall and especially for those on Reserve. It was grieved by ALPA. The Grievance result was the Company was correct to use it, but was incorrect how they used it.

That is the quick and dirty.

There is more to it, I’m sure someone will fill in the blanks.

Understood.

Unfortunately I’m still sitting on the outside looking in, and was trying to gather as much information as I could before the interview in a week’s time.

Cheers!
