You're mixing terms. The youngest you can retire with benefits is age 55. You are fully vested after 5 years of employment and you can stop working anytime after that and retain your benefits - now the earliest you can exercise them is 55 with the penalty or age 60 for normal.

So yes, you can stop working at age 40, go find another job or whatever, and take whatever you have and begin normal benefits at age 60.

Wow just came across this - one of the dumbest, moronic statements on this board. I'm guessing you know next to nothing about this lawsuit by these four dirtbags? The guys that swore they were doing it all for "discovery" and to shine a light on ALPA and then took a measley settlement before discovery even began offered by ALPA National (not by any Fedex MEC member)? They are a class act all right.

You do realize that Dyer wasn't even Chairman until the last 6 months or so of CBA 2015 negotiations right? With guys like you on our team, we'll be lucky to have any unity next time around. Tell you what, do the crew force a favor and go find another job.

I'm sure by telling him to find another job will really make him want to support your cause.

I flew with Chuck and had my private agreements and disagreements with him. I've known him a quarter of a century. I agreed with him far more than I disagreed with him. He was a consistent advocate for pilots. Very reasonable minded in spite of being ex-Navy.

One might disagree with him, but I can't justify imputing wrong motives to him.

Maybe so. Maybe he doesn't have wrong motives. But I've been here 24yrs and our pilot leadership has mislead us time and time again. Frank F, Scott, S, it goes on and on.The pension needs change but tying it to the market is not the answer. And no matter what Fedex Q2 is, they can afford to pay for the pension. Or do cash over cap or make some adjustment. We have new hires who are going to get screwed by the pension and lack of a cost of living adjustment . I don't want higher pay rates for the top just to screw the bottom guys. That mentality has to stop. And I'm in the top pay scale.
