Nightflyer’s advice is the absolute BEST...

Live within an hour (driving) of any FDX hub. The rest will be easy.

Germantown, TN is sort of FedEx “base housing”. Check it out.

I may be mistaken, but I’ve heard the guys over at UPS (once you get to a certain point on the seniority list for your seat and equipment) get paid tickets to and from work. Again please correct me if I’m wrong.

Is there anything like that at FedEx? Thanks.

Yes. There are lots of deadheads. They book a ticket from/to Elvisville to/from wherever. You can "deviate" and book a ticket to/from home/elsewhere up to the amount of the original. There's banks where all your DHs get added and you can allocate funds accordingly. Also a QOL win is living in a town that is served by a fedex jet as you get paid to dh to your home. Get's you an extra day off sometimes.

We live in Colorado Springs, but my husband is 757s based in Memphis. My job here is the only reason we are in Colorado. We would eventually like to go to Germany...

Is there a listing of airports that FDX flies into somewhere? I have been unsuccessful in my search so far.

Outside of Memphis, in TN, there is no state income tax.

In Mississippi the cost of living is cheaper but there is state income tax.

You'd have to do the math.
I live in Memphis with family (kids go to public schools...gasp) and I love it. Sit reserve. Fly a few times a month...spend tons of time at home. Pick up a trip here and there.

Drive to FL for the beach if you want. Head over to Pickwick lake for freshwater fun. Botanic gardens, zoo, mid town, Green Line for biking/running, Shelby Farms...tons of restaurants with awesome food.
