Anyone out there have any experience going in a FedEx jumpseat with a bicycle? I recall seeing an offline pilot going through security with a huge bicycle travel case. Any idea as to the process of getting a bicycle booked? Is it possible to take international? I’d like to jump over to Europe and do some riding.
Thanks!

Leaving Memphis call the sports equipment line (901)797-4106 to "list" your extra baggage (golf clubs, bikes, skis). Otherwise call the local outstation. Usually gets thrown in bulk freight no problem. Heard of guys having issues landing in MEM getting it from bulk freight if there's no unload ramp crew waiting....
Also, I've had very good experiences JS'ing on Atlas with a bike, you just put it under the stairs with the rest of the crew luggage.

I rode our system between Memphis and a couple of domestic outstations this summer with my road bike in a Thule hard case... no issues. Security will have you open up your bike case so they can inspect everything.
The prohibited items list mentions that bicycles are required to be loaded into the ABK or a compartment that is inaccessible during flight. It's also got some weird guidance for certain kinds of tools that you may be carrying in order to assemble the bike at your final destination.
Don't forget to remove any CO2 cartridges if you carry those for flat repairs.

Agree, brought mountain bike in a big soft case home from work on fedex last month, with a layover in MEM, couldn’t have been easier. FedEx crews have been the most consistently awesome jumpseat experience, always above and beyond.
