Default Unacceptable!

Regardless of the rumors and whatever backstories surround this, setting a resignation date over 4 months from now is simply unacceptable!

We cannot have ineffectual, lame duck leaders during negotiations!!! I hope our MEC reps realize this only weakens our bargaining positions and will act swiftly to bring in new leadership as soon as possible. We don't have 4+ months for a farewell tour and a rudderless ship.

And I'm sure the guys don't want to miss the mother of all peaks on the line this year. What a coincidence that their resignation date falls after peak....say it ain't so!

Totally disagree!

First, I appreciate their efforts on our behalf and the sacrifices they’ve made over their term of office.

Second, the Negotiating Committee actually works for the MEC, not for the Officers. The MEC is the Governing body and sets the tone.

Third, the 3 months allows for a smoother exit and a more complete handover.

Last, they could have said “FU”- we quit now and went to the line for peak to make way more money than they are now.

perhaps it’s the deuchbaggery of the comments here and other social media heroes that pushed them over the edge.

Yes, Yes, thank you for serving....but they were paid handsomely.

Ahhh, the tone. I wonder how that manifests itself.

Third, the 3 months allows for a smoother exit and a more complete handover.
The 3 months? How do you calculate that? It's not yet mid-August, then September, October, November and December plus the first two days of January. That's nearly 5 months (4 months, 23 days) by my count, not 3. And besides, "handover" doesn't start until after an election....when will that take place? I'm hoping very soon.

Last, they could have said “FU”- we quit now and went to the line for peak to make way more money than they are now.
Nothing is stopping them from actually flying right now....nor over Christmas....if they truly wanted to.

perhaps it’s the deuchbaggery of the comments here and other social media heroes that pushed them over the edge.
I have no idea of the back story or their personal situations but I do believe that 4+ months of lame duckery is more harmful to our common cause. I think a better course of action would be to make the transition to new leadership happen much sooner rather than later regardless of the poor optics of a resignation date that avoids peak on the line. The bigger issue here is leadership during negotiations....you may call that setting the tone. Since there's going to be new tone setters and thus a new tone, let's get them and it installed ASAP.

Agree to disagree.

25yrs of being at FX and its just one more round of gutless wonders who were our union leadership. Either quit or do the job, don't give some BS excuse of quitting in 4 months to ease a transition.
