What?
I’m sure it happens more than we know. Pilots almost always go to the first job offer if there is only one. And a few go to their number one choice if they get that job offer later.
Don’t forget that cargo isn’t for everyone. The more that leave or don’t come because it’s cargo or any other reason, the better for us here or that want to come.

I’d be around 41% at FedEx and 49% at Delta fairly close.
im not overly concerned about seniority. Since it’s the same progression for the most part. I’m more concerned which place would give me better QOL and time off. I do enjoy Wide body flying more and flying cargo but I’m not bothered by the Pax flying. I’d probably never hold wide body (330/350) captain at Delta so I’d miss out on that pay scale.

If wide body flying is your goal, and you think you’ll be happier with it. Hands down FedEx over delta.

Delta has such a young pilot group, being in my late 30’s I felt old in my indoc class and based on projections it’s left seat 737 most my career or right seat wide body FO. After flying wide body’s for more than 4 years that’s a hard pill for me to swallow.

Totally understand. Hard to give up wide body international flying once you’ve had a taste and really do enjoy it. With no options or avenues to return to it would be rather dismal. We have 73’s at our outfit now and before ever being pressed to the guppy I would consider SWA or any of the Big 3, etc. Pay to play for sure and possibly living at an airpark which it serves would be the only pipe dream. All depends on your pain threshold I guess.

Forgive me, but I respectfully disagree. There is no population of pilots that got a “first” offer from FedEx but really wanted Delta, AA, or United. One offs, we might know a guy, but tons of guys go from legacy to FedEx (every class) Are you saying tons go the other way?
overall that group is still significantly smaller than the group who left legacies for FedEx/UPS by a long shot though.
