Indy Getting 3rd Runway
Sounds like some major expansion could be coming to Indy within the decade. Not sure if the proposed third runway would be dedicated mostly to FedEx leaving the original two for better pax flexibility (i.e. no significant change to cargo ops) or if our throughput is expected to sharply increase. Per the article, company declined to provide any specifics on the topic. Any thoughts on how this could affect the domicile?

This was actually proposed before 9-11. Obviously cancelled, When they moved they interstate to build the new terminal they lowered the road surface in order to put a taxiway across it. Look near our gate 100 area, it rises there and the road lowers

True, "coulds" don't hold a lot of weight in the current environment. I didn't realize this was also proposed around 9/11 time frame. I guess it makes sense why it was cancelled then, but still doesn't inspire confidence considering the idea has been around for 20+ years. I also remember hearing something about the 76 being at capacity in the MEM domicile, so anything new in that fleet would start moving to Indy. I thought maybe the dots were starting to connect with expansion proposed up there.
23-01 doesn't elude to that happening, thats for sure. Then again, the bid also suggests there will be another in just 12 months. And there would likely be a handful more before we ever landed on a new runway at Indy. Maybe that statement should be taken with a grain of salt just like the assumption that we won't hire until FY24. I appreciate the info!
