Why not?
Because of the law.

Ask your rep. Or the negotiating committee, past or present. Or better yet, a lawyer.

huck is correct. You can always try to get language. But ALPA doesn’t represent those that have retired. I’m sorry…but, those guys and gals are all gonna be fine. I’m not willing to degrade our future for those that have retired under what they/we could negotiate in the past. It’s like what we tell kids. Life isn’t fair. Deal with it.

Everybody that retires before we sign the next contract gets the benefits in the current contract and that's it.

There is zero such law against retro retirement payments for folks who have retired since amendable. zero.

I am amazed at how new hires think that older pilots had their chance on past contracts to raise their retirement and didn’t. They we don’t deserve a bump in retirement now and how we just need to retire and get out of their seats.

We had the opportunity for sure, we didn’t take it because it would have been at the expense of future new hires post 2015. The company would probably have given us a bump $200,000 a year if we had agreed for any future new hires to not have tge a plan and given them some paltry 15% total bump in the bfund. We didn’t we looked out for future new hires.

I can’t figure out why so many think things suck so bad and that it is all the senior pilots fault. Sure seamed like most of the new hires thought what we had was good enough to come here. I think most just have p___s envoy because of their buds bragging about their contract.

Things will get better here. There will be another black swan event for the pax carriers. How will they look then? Probably can blame it on their senior pilots.

Wow, I am impressed with your spelling/grammar ability. You must be a joy to fly with. Time to put out your applications to the majors where they know how to spell correct everyone. Forgot don’t need a college degree anymore so just dumbing myself down with the current group of new hires candidates.

Revisionist self-serving history.

Retirement bump for those retired during the amendable period is an emotional response. They should be prepared to retire with what they have. I’m not willing to give up anything for that. I’m concerned for pilots here and the pilots coming in the future. Not the people who have retired. I’m not alone.

Aren’t most revisionist self serving in that they direct their future actions from what they have learned in the past?

starting with deregulation how did that work out for most airline pilots? How many companies furloughed or went out of business?
Financial hick up in early 90’s? Furloughs and bankruptcy’s?
9/11? Furloughs bankruptcies and loss of pensions?
Financial crisis 07-10? Furloughs?
Covid?

Wasn’t it Doug Parker who said in 2019 that airlines will never lose money again due to consolidation? Guess he is thought things were different?

Like Yogi Berra said”It’s deja vu all over again”

Things will get better here haha. The majority of FedEx pilots are not willing to wait for our peers to suffer bankruptcy concessions to take back our position at the top of the industry. We are going to take that position. Sit back and watch.
