Robot Chicken has a good skit on that phrase.

I didn't say it us underfunded. I said this story claims it has a shortfall to pay future liabilities. It only has 95% of the money it needs to pay all its bills. The law sets what is considered fully funded. My comment was that the company was making voluntary contributions when times were good, all the while looking at the large crop of new hires, knowing that their pension obligations would increase. I don't know if they hadn't made the 700 million in contributions but added 1500 pilots to the pension would it still be "fully funded".

Pension liabilities can vary wildly outside due to factors outside of the money actually sitting in the fund. The money in the kitty is only one part of the equation.

Bingo! We need to demand a kitty when negotiations resume - it can live in AOC. Damn things are up all night anyway - it'll be perfect.

Actually disregard. Now that there's rumored to be money in it, it won't live through the first night.

this is the best thing I’ve read on APC ever. Haha. You win.

Hmm. Another FCIF about bribes/kickbacks etc...wonder what that's all about?

I was curious and looked up how much you have to steal in order to be charged with a felony, in the state of TN. It's only a thousand bucks. Wow! It turns out that just a few ill gotten or unnessary, DDH, $8,000.00 bank, maybe DRF trips, could really get your tit in a ringer. Probably both of them. Who woulda thunk.

Is it ok to give the giys in flt coordination my chocolate cake?

Sure but what can they do for you other than give you a sleep room before 0130 if you are commuting home. On the other hand giving schedulers enough frequent flyer miles to take their family to Hawaii on vacation? They will probably hold out a juicy draft trip with double dh for you.

The senior guy can't get an open time trip by checking once a day and will run to a manager's office who was in his new hire class and cry foul. I actually have a friend being investigated right now for literally doing nothing but checking it a lot and crushing senior guys on the time stamp over and over. They even got it so far that they got PNP included in the contract in 2015 to try and help them get trips. Then they got killed on the time stamp with faster guys armed with PNP so they had PM negotiate it to expire!

The same senior folks that will throw your a$$ under the bus on work rules and career earnings for their $39k a year in TA1. They even started a text group to wank in public. It's literally the same guys. And don't let their wanking and lies fool you. They are woefully in the minority. And they can't win a time stamp battle to save their lives lol.

The reason guys can't pick up open time trips and they go automatically to reserves is they claim they are overmanned and need to justify reserve utilization so they don't furlough. I vehemently disagree with the concept, but there are two sides to this. Pretty sweet you point this back to some wolf pack fallacy again.

It would seem that your circle(jerk) of friends are having a rough time. I wonder if the latest FCIF, which once again reaffirmed that it's NOT okay to pay for trips/extensions, has anything to do with another pilot being under investigation (allegedly).

There's not a care in the world though, if as you assert, the reality is simply that you and your pals are just beating up on geriatric brethren, with a timestamp. From my observation of the fantastically wonderful trips, trips/reserve dropped at will and delays in assigning OT until the PNP guy gets online, I suspect not.

Hate to be the one to break it to ya but the senior folks generally get what they want in the bid and then never look at it again. This is quite likely a battle between a group of cheaters and non-cheaters that doesn't really have anything to do with seniority. That said, I'd take an instant open time system or a seniority based one. Either would eliminate this crap for good.
