Fedex Reserve+Vacation
If you extend your vacation with a reserve line do you have to have a continuous block of R days to knock out the whole month. For instance, I have 8 days extend-able to 14 (which is the total number of R-days for a 4 week month) based on r day value next month. Can I bid any reserve line and knock out the whole month or does the line have to be continuous. Thanks in advance.

1 day of vacation = 1 day removed from Reserve
So if you can expand to 14 vacation days then you knock out 14 R days. You get to request which ones you want to knock out if you don't have enough vacation days to wipe out the whole line (only caveat is you cant request to retain R days that fall in your actual vacation footprint)

MaxKts is wrong!
If you have 14 days of vacation you can knock out the Rdays up to that hour value. You must knock out number of Rdays of your vacation. In other words you have to knock out 14 Rdays with 14 days of vacation (in case you want to bank some vacation for buy back).
Lets say an rday is worth 4hrs. The min you can knock out is 14 x 4 = 56hours.
If you want max out your 14 days you can knock out 84 hours of rdays 14 x 6 = 84hours (two weeks vacation)
84/4(rday value) = 21 days if you want max days off.
You do not have to have a continuous string to knock out the max amount, they will usually honor your request it just can't be in the middle of a rday block.

Ok thanks, but what about the extension. Using the formula in the contract I can take my 8 days of vacation and make them 14: (8x6)=48, 48+6=54, 54/3.85(rday value)=14.02 rounded down to 14. Since there are only 14 days in of reserve in a 4 week month can I just bid any R line and knock the whole thing out?

I agree with R1200. Maxfts is wrong.
Take your number of vacation days times 6 hours (7 days x 6 hrs/day = 42 hours of vacation). Lets say a reserve day pays 4 hrs/day. You can "drop" with pay up to 10 R days in that vacation month. If it's a 15 R day month, you would then owe the company 5 days of work (5 R days). I've had reasonable luck requesting the 5 consecutive days I wanted to stand reserve.
I have done this many times ... I'm sure.
Good luck ...

This is what got me "1 day of vacation = 1 day removed from Reserve" and that quote is 100% wrong no matter what.

That being said, if you do extend to 14 days using the CBA formula, you're done for the month. One of the few upsides to lower RLGs.

When you're talking about Vacation and a Reserve Line, the quote "1 day of vacation = 1 day removed from Reserve" is spot on.
So, in purple1day's example, the formula allows extending his vacation to a total of 14 days (8 original plus 6 more extended - CBA 7.G.3.e.)
If he chooses to extend all 6 days (his choice up to 6 more days), he will be removed from 14 days (the whole month in his case)
AFTER that transaction - the vacation bank bean counters will figure out how many CH's (hours) to charge his vacation bank.
In his case it will be 14 days x R-day value = hours deducted from his vacation bank. (14 x 3.85CH = 53.90 or 53 hours and 54 minutes)
So....in summary.....when you're talking about RESERVE + vacation - it's a whole different enchilada....."1 day of vacation = 1 day removed from Reserve"
100% guaranteed this is how it works.
