Just ran into one of our pilots that is involved with hiring. Was told current plans are to hire 50 pilots this year.
Was hoping for better than that.
The retirement chart shows 70 for '13...guess we aint growin much this year.

Over 700 will be 60+ with over 25 years. When they realize the pension formula isn't going to change, more may depart.

And many may not. With great senority, 35 days of vacation and 72 hours of sick leave, this is not a real tough job. You could add $22,500 to the 401(K) and catch the B fund match for about $14,000 every year. Do that for five years, keep your 401(K) intact and working for five years and you have quite a nest egg. Plus, the health insurance is good and not real expensive. Throw in jumpseat priveleges and a few other benefits and I think quite a few will stay beyond 60. It is an individual decision and each person will do what is best for them based on their current situation. It's called freedom of choice!!
