Surely the mem widebody f/o's will generate passover pay. I'm guessing the company wants to keep the 727 f/o's (why train new ones for a decreasing seat position), but why pay all of the 757 f/o's passover pay? Why not offer these seats to folks already on the seniority list? I wonder what the "management logic" is on this one? It seems VERY expensive. |
They are probably still filling the unfilled slots from the last bid. Until they are filled, no passover pay. The narrowbody f/o's had a chance to bid it last time.

It looks like new hires are going to training before folks awarded wide body FO last year. Certainly that would generate passover pay until the folks being left behind are activated and get the wide body FO pay on their own, right?

Anybody know the scoop? 24.E.5 5. New Hire Crew Positions a. During his initial new hire training, each pilot shall be presented with appropriate information regarding crew position vacancies available for bid. A new hire pilot’s initial crew position shall be determined by his standing bid and seniority. b. If the Company hires fewer pilots than the number of unfilled vacancies available to be filled by new hires, the Company may designate the crew positions to be made available for bidding by only the affected new hire pilots in accordance with Section 24.E.5.a. (above). c. If the Company subsequently hires additional pilots to fill new hire crew positions remaining unfilled from a posting, the remaining unfilled crew positions shall first be available for award to the pilots previously hired to fill positions from that posting, based upon their seniority and initial standing bid; provided, however, that this paragraph shall not permit a new hire pilot to change his initial crew status. d. If, through the application of Section 24.E.5.c. (above), a junior pilot is activated into a crew position for which a senior pilot(s) did not have the opportunity to bid, the eligible senior pilot(s) shall be paid passover pay in the same manner described in Section 24.D.2.b., D.2.c., and D.2.d. e. If a new hire pilot changes his initial crew position pursuant to Section 24.E.5.c. (above), the Company shall activate him at his new domicile consistent with the Company’s staffing requirements. f. Except as provided in Section 6.E.1.c., a new hire pilot shall not become entitled to a relocation package pursuant to Section 6 as a result of the application of this paragraph. |
Recommendations?
Does anyone have any input regarding the use of the "Recommendations" section of the Fedex online application? I assume that this is primarily for current or retired FedEx employees, but the system does allow anyone to make an entry. Would this be an appropriate way for past supervisors, chief pilots, etc. to enter a recommendation for an applicant? Or is this option perhaps best left to current and past FedEx employees?
Thanks. |

New hire pay is new hire pay. If the guy getting the position in front of you is getting 1st year pay, then there is no passover pay. It would be a cut in pay to anyone that is 2nd year or greater, and the same pay for a newhire.
A bit of a thread hijack, sorry. |

Doesn't matter what what the junior guy trained ahead of you is getting paid. It only matters that they, in the same bid, were trained before you. They basically hold your seat until the company gets around to training you. If YOU are off 1st year pay and someone junior trained out of order ahead of you and is off IOE, you should be getting the pay rate for that airplane at your years of service, not theirs. Lots of caveats. Don't play games with your bid or you might lose your passover. |

OK, I'm in this boat. I was hired in August of last year, missed the June bid. I am currently a 727 F/O getting A300 F/O passover pay (1st year). When August 1st rolls around, will I be getting 2nd year narrow body or wide body pay?
