Highly unlikely that base seems to be shrinking.:(

Just for some perspective. I've been here over 10.5 years and can barely hold LAX MD-11 FO. I could be a MEM 757 Captain with some seniority.

I've heard they are short in LAX on the FO side. LAX has always been a senior base.

On a side note, prior to the Great Recession, I do know guys held it with 2 years seniority. I wouldn't count on it, but anything is possible.

I would say zero chance. Entry point +/- a year is 12 years FO and 20 years Capt. The base is very senior and the ones there now will most likely never leave. Most can ride it out another 10 years....and by then I'm guessing the base will be closed anyway.

I heard this from a good source. FDX needs pilots now.

If that's the case I wonder why my phone has not rang....I would gladly be there tomorrow. Wouldn't it be nice if they just passed along how to break the secret matrix?

No Errors!

1) This may sound too simple but make SURE your Pilot Credentials app does not contain errors. A bud I referenced for recently was disappointed he hadn't received an invite. I asked to look at his app and he had 2-3 areas he had simply left blank (attention to detail) as well as some dates that didn't add up in employment. It's a computer program you've got to get past before you can make it to the selection. Don't make your non-selection computer generated.

2). FedEx hires 'Captains'. Every pilot can fly. You must highlight your 'leadership' qualities. Again, the computer selection process is looking for buzz words: safety, check airman, eval, DO, commander, Masters, astronaut etc. (we do have a couple former astronauts working here

3) Yes, heavy time, over 50k is a PLUS. Boeing/MD time is GOLD!

4). Glass cockpit is good.

Lastly, some are getting caught up in the 'pilot shortage'. Folks, there is NO pilot shortage in the good jobs. Many great applicants are still waiting for a call from anybody. Check your resume and app and look for correctness, accuracy and highlight why YOU should be called. It's worth it

Good points. Seems simple, but thanks for the reminders. Always time to double check!

How likely is it to hold MEM as a new hire? Possibly on the 757?

Too likely.

Do you have to fill out a new pilot credentials app with the new window? Thanks
