I think your question should be, How is United going to be at the bottom of the FedEx seniority list after the merger. TNT? That's a new one. Merger? Never heard that one. Rumors, speculation, gossip, Yep, heard that here a lot with no substance.

I would imagine TNT will be kept separate but just owned by FedEx. Now as far as scope, Only the FedEx pilots can chime in on that.
If you believe the company. |
Should throw some fuel on any scope negotiations.

Per the company announcement to pilots, we can't own a foreign airline. TNT airline will be sold off eventually. All inter continental flown by FDX pilots (as much as feasible), CGN hub to expand, TNT airlines to be sold off someday.
If you believe the company. I am just a simple Frozen Caveman Pilot. This new Merger announcement & Talk frightens me. ;) So many questions. "If " this deal gets final approval: Who and what entity is going to fly the former TNT Airlines Freight? FDX says that they cannot own a foreign airline so they plan to sell it off. To Whom? Emirates? DHL? UPS? Air Asia? Does it make sense to for FDX to sell off the TNT Air Arm to a Competitor? So will the Foreign buyer, whoever it may be, continue to fly the same Airplanes and routes under a contract for FedEx? Would that benefit the FDX Pilots? If FDX routes grow then yes, but what happens if it is more economical for the Sold Air Entity to fly it? Is it going to be flown by the purchaser of the TNT Airlines with the current 737's and it's pilots or will they expand to bigger Aircraft? BTW, TNT is not just 737's intra Europe. I see a lot of Wide Body Airplanes around the Globe with TNT painted on the side. (B-757/6's, A-330's, 747's etc) Who owns these? Will they continue to fly their existing Freight? Will they expand or contract if this deal is approved? The FDX CGN HUB is expected to expand, but with what and who's airframes and Pilots? FDX's or the Purchaser of TNT airlines or a combination? While this is all important, do not become distracted from Contract talks. I suspect Section 1 talks are is going to get more attention now. |
I heard 17 being hired for HKG and 6 for CGN....not sure why we aren't at least putting guys in a pool...... Pilot recruitment folks seem a tad frustrated

From Wikipedia so I'm not sure how accurate the info is. Most of the aircraft are operated by subcontractors so shedding the aircraft should be relatively straightforward. The 3 B777F's are owned by Titan Leasing (Atlas Worldwide subsidiary) and leased back to TNT.
TNT Airways fleet Aircraft In Service Orders Notes BAe 146-300QT 7 — 2 operated by PAN Air Boeing 737-300F 8 — 2 operated by Bluebird Cargo Boeing 737-400F 9 3 1 operated by Bluebird Cargo Boeing 747-400ERF 4 — 2 wet-leased from Emirates Boeing 757-200F 4 — 2 operated by Icelandair, 1 operated by Cygnus Air Boeing 777F 3 — Tupolev Tu-204-120C 1 — Operated by Cairo Aviation Total 32. 3 I'm not sure if TNT has any of their own pilots? Since most of the flying is subcontracted out FDX should simply be able to buy their way out of any remaining contracts. There is always an "early out" clause in ACMI flying that TNT is currently using. |
