That may be considered unethical. It’s like receiving a gift in exchange for information.
If I still lived up there I would take him up on the offer, but I would probably pay for the grub since I probably get paid more. |
Maybe I’m just paranoid after watching all the videos for years and answering the questions. I just think it’s a thin line to walk. Discussing hiring with a buddy over lunch is different that agreeing to meet with a Stranger to discuss hiring in exchange for lunch.

HR reps show up to events with paid admission all the time. |

Stranger danger! Aviation is such a small community, probably would end up making a new hunting or fishing friend and might even have friends in common.

2018 is certainly going to be an interesting year for pilot hiring. With many big airlines increasing their needs, 420 jobs at FDX is simply amazing. That means for three years, FDX will have hired 30% of its pilot workforce. Crazy.
Wonder how comparisons stack as to seniority progression vs delta and aa |
Europe Base
Goodevening Gentleman,
Any chance to get a job in FedEx for non Us citizen/non green card holder? I'd love to fly for FedEx and be based in Cologne/Germany. I'm next to move to left seat in a major freight company in Europe but t&c are far away to those in FedEx. Currently operating 75/76, former Navy jets and instructor. I flew 3 years in the Us (USN and USMC). Any idea how i could get an Authorization to work for an American company? Regards |

You have to be a US Citizen in order to be an Officer, and have to be an Officer in order to be a Military pilot?? |

Yeah right, get married.... You tell my wife now :) |
Anyone know if it's worth keeping an app on file w/o a PE after getting hired by a legacy? I have plenty of FedEx references, but unfortunately none with a PE to give (sad face). Thanks!

Absolutely. Know plenty hired without it. |
If you currently drive CDL A for FEDEX ground and work for MAC at the same time, is there a higher chance of being hired?
What about working for a regional and drive CDL A for FedEx ground on the side? |

On the application under flight time there is a box entitled 'current rating.' What are they asking for here?
|
Odds of getting on with no 121 time?

I would assume that they are asking for which aircraft you are current and qualified in. Just a guess though.
|
If that is the best that you got.

Hello,
I didn’t make it past day 2 of the interview last year. Is it possible to get another shot or is it 1 and done? Thanks. |
It is possible. Keep updating and trying to improve the resume.

Interview Prep Suggestions
I just received the email for interview this past week! I’ve read through several threads and found some decent information although it tends to be a bit dated. Any new or current advice on how to best prepare or any other tips? Thanks in advance!

I flew with a guy who has been here a few years that got his interview by throwing boxes for a while.
Is that still a thing? Can someone take a part time position in some capacity and use that to get an internal track to an interview? Also, does anyone know if past employment as a driver can provide any benefit in being selected to interview (assuming the pilot has competitive quals)? |

Any new hires within the past 12 months have any Kalitta Air pilots in their class? FedEx is where I want to end up.

Ever get any more information on this? This is the route I'm planning on taking. I spoke with a recruiter today and after a year of service you can apply to transfer to positions you're qualified for and you'll be considered before an outside hire. I'd like to speak with someone who's done it but that sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

1000Hr Mark
Is the 1000 hrs PIC time before or after the sortie conversion? In the aircraft type section on pilot credentials it adds in the .2 conversion, but below that in the "Aircraft Category Subtotals" section it does not include the conversion.
I'm right on the bubble and my sortie conversion is about 150hrs. I don't want to get out of the Air Force too soon and it would be really nice to know which one they use. In the end it would only take a few more months to make up that difference, but every month counts! |

Back in the day, you also had to wait 18 months before you could transfer from box-thrower to any other position. Not sure if that's dropped down to 12 months now or not. I'm out of the loop. |

From what I know, back in the day, getting the interview meant the job was yours to lose, so throwing boxes was the best way to get the interview. But now, with the interview being more of an HR event, getting the interview "prematurely" if they wouldn't have called you otherwise, could possibly hurt you. But that's purely speculation on my part.

How is the interview an HR event if all you do is talk to pilots?
Not claiming to be an expert or to know the answer(s), just trying to answer the question from what I've been told to prepare for, and to reignite the conversation since I am interested in finding out the real info as well. In your opinion, should someone with 1000TPIC quit their job and go toss boxes for FedEx to bypass the HR computer and get the interview? |
Straight from the chief pilot. Upping hiring to 59 a month for August and September. Up from 40 per month. Keep those apps updated!

Gotta make it through the HR machine to even get to talk to the pilots, no?
