Default Fdx recurrent training

I have recurrent training next month and have been awarded a long string of r days. I want to split those days with training and have those r days dropped so I can rebuild a line. How do I answer the training bid question
( Do you want activities removed (without pay), and to be eligible for make-up, to protect minimum days off?) yes or no

Don't want mess this up. Thanks

Anyone know if they are required by seniority to honor your request for training days? I can see a case where they may not allow you to knock out your month, so sorry. And can they create a training time for you and assign it that is not in the bidpack?

So they dumped my schedule for nov. Now how do I rebuild my schedule? Is it trip specific make up request? If so which category? Pmu or general or cmu? Also can I do that now or in the view / add. Sorry for all the questions, company is so slow to get back to me on this.

Don't you have a sponsor or somebody that can walk you through VIPS? Not a simple answer!

Search VIPs for "Monthly Make Up Bid", opens WED 0700 and closes FRI 0700. Make sure you read the instructions that are available on that page. Straight up seniority based bid against other pilots with view/add (monthly make up bid) credit to bid.

Yes
Yes
Monthly Makeup Bid (CIA)
View add this Wed, Thurs (closes Fri am)

P.S. Nothing entered nothing received

Monthly Make-Up Bid
The following is an example of how to enter your Make-Up Bid for trips. Each line on the page represents a separate bid. You can enter up to six (6) trip-date combinations per bid. For each trip you need to enter a trip number followed by a slash ("/") and then a trip date. The date can be shortened to the day of the month. Valid trip/date entry formats are: TRIP/D, TRIP/DD, TRIP/DMMM, or TRIP/DDMMM, for example: 17/8, 17/08, 17/8FEB, or 17/08FEB. Multiple trips entered on a single bid line must be separated by a comma (",").

Bid# Enter Trips and Dates:
1. 210/01Nov, 219/15
2. 34/23Nov
3. 35/12,210/18
4. 217/20Nov
5. 219/21Nov
Use your "tab" key to move to the next bid. When you have keyed in all of your bids, you can use the "Enter" key to submit your bids, or click on the "Continue" button at the bottom of the page.

Bid Award and Trip Assignments
After the view/add window closes, make-up bids will be automatically processed and awarded in seniority number order.
Any bid that includes multiple trips will require that all trips on that bid satisfy the CBA and/or FAA restrictions and legalities. In other words, all trips in a single bid must be able to be assigned to you in order for the system to award you that bid. Each of your bids will be processed in bid number sequence. If the system is unable to award you a bid due to conflicts, legality issues, or seat not open for any of the trips in the bid, then the next bid will be considered. This sequence of processing will continue for each of your subsequent bids until your targeted make-up limit has been achieved.

Also be aware, if they get to the end of your makeup bid and have not been able to build you a complete schedule from your requests (due to senior people grabbing trips you wanted or whatever,) they stop. They don't automatically add R days or trips you did not request. You could end up with a BLG in the 40-50 CH range. I found this out the hard way. I knocked out a week long trip and only got 2 6 Ch trips on the makeup bid. Ended up with a 50 CH line. Make sure you bid everything you are willing to fly, to let them build you a line.

Dragging up an old thread but with the new contract, the wording on conflicting a string of r days with training has changed. Instead of "splitting" a block of r days, new contract says just a training conflict with a block will drop the whole block of rdays. Does anybody know if this has been implemented yet? Or is this one of those TBD bohica items?

Implementation schedule says "TBD". Old rules were still in effect in Jan. I would bid under the old rules to be safe and hope we would get some sort of notification when "TBD" is finally "D".

Remember that training days that hit in the first or last part of your R-day string may look like they'll split the R-days. However, training must still have R-days on either side after applicable buffers for the training itself, nearby trips or vaca have been applied.

You have a long trip (with a 48 hour buffer) that ended on the last Sunday of Feb and bid RA that started on Monday for March. You drop training into reserve starting Wednesday thinking you're going to drop the whole R-block since Mon & Tues R-days will be on the "left" of training. Unless you waived your Int'l buffer, Mon & Tues R-days go away and all your R-days to the right of training stay.

R-B the day before a 0900L classroom will get dropped due to training buffer, so if that's the first R-day then you're no longer splitting them.

Many other scenarios that can give similar results but that's a couple of examples.
