Default Married to the company

Our relationship to the company is very much like a marriage, painful at times, but financially better to stick it out. However, when you go "all in", either in a marriage or an airline company, you have certain expectations. In a marriage, you want your spouse to remain desireable, maybe older, but still lights up the room. When you pick an airline, especially if it is financially sound, you expect to have the same earning potentail, quality of life and retirement as those before you. This TA give FedEx pilots neither, but divorce is painful in an "all in" job. Most people in this situation muddle along in a miserable relationship until death, but, others take the opporuntity to make their togetherness better. If we, the FedEx pilots, vote yes for this TA, we will be a miserable group. Broken and waiting for the inevitable end! However, if we regroup, and meet our spouse head on as equals, we can have a mutual relationship that works for all. Giving in to this TA is not productive to either group, I don't care what the company thinks. A happy employee will go to great lengths to get the job done, an unhappy employee won't. FedEx always wants the "can do" attitude, however, after awhile, it has to be a two way street. Now is not the time to give into a very long term miserable existence with a fat spouse that expects us to wait on them. Hiring is competive, qualified pilots are becoming a shortage and "Winter is Coming" let's not sell ourselves short on this TA.

Just looking at the other marriages around us; UPS, SWA, Delta, looks like we all need more counselling!

I am very much enjoying your colorful analogy

Educate your self and vote. No one here on APC is going to change a Yes voter to a No voter just because of this site and vis versa. Read the contract and decide what you want to do. There are attractive sides for the yes and no voter.

But Chester.........If you think the company and FedEx have a relationship that's like a marriage, You are way off. Try, that is more like David and Goliath or maybe Jack and the bean stalk.

.
I don't know. Maybe if I could just read one more post comparing the TA to an ugly woman (or pretty parts of an ugly woman) I might change my mind. 3 or 4 in a 24 hour period isn't enough. But 5....that might do it.

Ok how about this.

The TA is like a box of chocolate. So exciting to get the shiny wrapped box, until you open it and pick up a piece. You take a small bite, and realize it tastes like crap. You put it back and repeat this process until the whole box is full of saliva covered half eaten pieces of crap.

Then your wife walks in and says, "who the FiretrUCK took bites out of my chocolate?!?!"

I bet that one will sway the yes guys!

I enjoy a good laugh as well as everyone else on here.. However, given that a "Not in Favor" vote is a real possibility, which undoubtedly will be followed by a political struggle for the MEC, and that some on these blogs will be part of or close with whomever is in control, leaves me further concerned about trusting my career to this sophomoric humor... Sorry if I'm no fun right now, but the I had all of this type fun I care to have during the 95-99 fiasco....

Chester, you want to compare our relationship with the company to a marriage?
Now you've just lowered all our expectations.

Talk about some melodramatic stories. What next, a story urging us to keep strong, do the right thing, and help Frodo save Middle Earth?

Kind of like kicking her out the door and going for the hot young Brazilian blonde! How does that usually workout?QUOTE=Busdrivr;1986957]Chester, you want to compare our relationship with the company to a marriage?
