My experiment is over.
Ok, I had fun with the ski boat thing. If you hadn't guessed, it was tongue in cheek. The reality is as a life long sailboat racer...I hate skiers.....I couldn't find Heber Springs on a map if I tried. I was making fun of the stereotype a lot of posters on here have of Collierville guys. I have to admit I had a little fun imagining some of you guys coming unglued as you read the post.
For the past two weeks, I have seen posters on here intensify their emotional appeals and say some really terrible things about one another. I haven't really posted, but I read quite a bit. You have an expectation how others should act if they either win or lose.
I personally was disappointed with the name calling and criticizing especially when people volunteered their rationale for their vote.
As soon as this thing happened, some started with their snarky defeatist remarks about how we are collectively stupid and we got screwed by selfish people....both here and on Facebook.
Obviously my ski boat posts did not live up to your expectation on how the winners should act.....Heck, if you had won, you would have expected all of us to be on board with the re-negotiation. You had expectations on how we should act if we lost.
One of the big arguments for voting "NO" argued by TonyC is that we shouldn't underestimate what we can do if we all work together. Quit worrying about what others will do and look in the mirror.
The underlying idea is still at work. Are you living up to your expectation of how the minority should act?
I can only be cruel for so long....I'm now bored. I think we are as capable as we've always been to improve our situation. Our baseline is higher. We need to be smart, we need to fly the contract. We need to stick together......and most of all be safe.
Nothing is guaranteed and we may not be where we imagine we'll be 5 years from now.....heck, some of us might expire. Let's not forget the concept of gratitude and congeniality. This contract is important, but it was NEVER the most important thing in our lives. If it was, then your priorities might need an adjustment.

I don't follow close enough to have any idea what you are talking about. Admittedly, I was a definite "no". It's over and now we have to live with the deal. Definitely disappointed, but this was the result I was expecting anyway. Conceptually, it was almost a sure pass. Make sure you give something to those about to leave like the silverback (40k and sick leave sell back for those that have it), a pay raise, and a bonus check for those that live paycheck to paycheck. Add that to those afraid of their own shadows and it's a pass...
That said, it's all over. No sour grapes, but when the *****ing starts, I may have to say "I told you so" just for the fun of it. Time to move on now....

Don't worry, on the line no one will ever admit to voting yes. They never do. Two thirds of us are flat out liars.

Since the seniority system straps each of us to one ultimate airline, the contract is the only way to improve our individual lot here, until senior guys move on. I'm willing to bet the 57-43 vote was pretty close to left vs right seaters. Right seat guys get screwed once again! But what does ALPO care? They got cola'd taxes, er dues, for the next 6-8 yrs. Pathetic!

What a bunch of Generation X Poppycock! Since when does something not have to be THE most important thing in someone's life to garner intense interest in its outcome?
