Besides this I recommend a 3 month moratorium on contract discussion IN THE COCKPIT. No religion or politics either. Fly the jet have fun keep it light and on topic, A-B safe, efficient, effective, legal and light hearted.

The 8 in 24 exception is only valid for duty (scheduled or actual) that doesn't touch the Critical duty period.
And guess what-Contract language currently allows the Company to schedule you to exceed 8 in 24, and the rest required to do so is less than the 8 in 24 exception that just became valid.

What in the He*& does this mean? We had a chance to fix many of the fatigue issues and safety issues by closing the loopholes in this contract. The union decided it was not important enough! I don't ever want to hear about safety or fatigue again at this airline. It is all talk, no action!
So I guess you'll be running as a block rep when the time comes?

I didn't find it difficult to fly my schedule during negotiations because it's what I do normally
Sure, I make adjustments to my awarded line to fit my personal life, but I won't do things or be pressured by the company to do things which jeopardize safety, increase my level of fatigue or threaten my health
If I see a fatiguing pairing or line construction, I'll formally challenge it with the union & the company
If I feel fatigued, I'll call in fatigued -- regardless of pressure from above. No one else makes that call for me.
If I think we need more gas or need to start the APU --- I'll recommend it promptly
If I'm sick, I'll call in sick. No one else will make that decision.
If we need to go-around, I'll go around. Same with diverts.
We should all do these things each day as professional pilots
The company shouldn't expect anything else --- last month or next month --- regardless of what contract we are operating under
I'm not motivated to "fly until I die" due to a 10% pay increase, a 2% B fund bump or some retirement bonus incentive
If some new, planned or perceived, efficiency gain exists in this contract ultimately proves to jeopardize safety, increase fatigue or affects my health, I'll act professionally & appropriately to mitigate those risks
I'll do this "individually"
My hope is we all do it "collectively" too
YMMV --- but I hope not!

We should challenge a line, call in fatigued, call in sick, add gas and start the APU, go around and divert EVERY DAY?!?!

However, if anyone feels any of those actions are warranted I encourage guys to take them --- be true to yourself and your brothers & sisters daily
Don't fly fatigued, unhealthy, on minimal gas, or push the weather to unsafe levels just because we're under contract
It should be our baseline mindset & our baseline approach to the worldwide, night, cargo business everyday
Yes - EVERY DAY!

I would like to know, from someone who has done it, what happens when you call in fatigued.
1) Can you use your sick bank to pay for your trip?
2) Does your trip just disappear and you don't get paid?
3) How much grief does the company give you for calling in fatigued?
4) Are you put on double secret probation?
5) Does the FAA get involved in any way?
No speculation. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually been through it.
