Default Vacation Buy back - June

I tried to find a relevant thread to put this in rather than start another, but couldn't. I guess they can't hire fast enough. Good thing we're still not in contract negotiations. Okay, I'll stop.

I don't think I'm going to exercise this option but just for my understanding:

If you had two weeks of vaca in June and you sold it back, am I correct in this:
You get paid 84 CH for the vacation
You get an extra 24 CH on top of that
and You get paid for whatever schedule you are awarded that month as normal?

Any differences between holding a regular line, secondary or reserve?

Thanks.

Not positive, but it is 24 extra hours for a vacation that is bought back. If you had two separate 7 day vacations in Jun and they agreed to buy back both vacations, you should get 24 hrs extra for each vacation. No sure thing that they would buy both vacations though.

I know of a guy that only had 10 minutes of vacation left, but had a scheduled vacation. He was one of the most senior pilots in his seat, so in order for the company to buy more junior guys vacations, they had to buy his because it is done in seniority order.

Default What if...

I had vacation in June, 1st week, slid two days forward into May. Knocked out a trip in May.

Answered solicitation, and that was the week that popped up.

I have a positive balance. Is it still possible for them to buy that vacation back. I was already charged the hours for the trip in may.

The FCIF says that you can't sell back a vacation that you knocked a trip out in the prior month--I think, but you may as well attempt it. Who knows, contract gets ignored often enough.

Sooooo....

Can someone explain what you actually get paid?

Contract says they pay you for your vacation. So I assume that means you get 6 CH x # of vacation days. (so, 42 CH for a 7-day vacation)

You also get 24 CH for the buyback.

So far, we're at 66 CH.

Since your vacation is gone, you bid a normal 80 hour line and fly it.

Are you going to get paid 66 + 80 = 146 CH for that month?

Yes, but I think you get the VBB on the 15th of the following month.

Not only do you get the VBB on the 15th of the following month, that is when you get paid your vacation. Big paycheck on July 15th, but maybe not what you were expecting in June.
